This urban walk can be done in 2 parts.The first in the city is 3.5 km long and can be extended to the marina area and Fort Elisabeth by a further 2.5 km.Saint-Helier takes its name from a Belgian monk who lived there for 15 years as a hermit. He was martyred on the Hermitage Rock in the Bay of Saint-Aubin in 555 AD. Saint-Helier is the island's capital and main commercial centre, home to a third of its population (35,000 ha).
