A very beautiful, easy hike with lovely views of the valley at the start and a towpath lined with beautiful trees coloured by autumn. Not recommended in muddy weather.
It's difficult to find a restaurant and the banks of the Ourcq are not very welcoming for picnickers.

A pleasant start along the Ourcq Canal. Then a pretty village and beautiful scenery. However, the return trip to La Ferté-Millon isn't great. You'd have to cut across to get back to the canal path...

A pleasant, easy hike, with only the path past the pond being muddy.
A beautiful day with a few sunny spells.
We arrived in Mareuil in the early afternoon and continued along the canal to Crouy, where we took the train back.
Please note that the gate at point 5 is currently inaccessible. Barricades block the passage and the nearby gate is lying on the ground, probably as a result of a road accident. Just follow the road to find the entrance to the restaurant and the canal.
For your information, there is a picnic table opposite the Marolles lock.
