Description of the walk

To reach the large car park at Entre-les-Aygues, take the small road on the left in Vallouise.
Important note: as this car park is no longer accessible due to a landslide, you will need to park well before it. To do so, use the notches in the track.

(S/E) At the crossroads of the trails, at the exit of the car park, follow the stream to ford it, as the footbridge has disappeared following severe weather events. Once you have crossed the stream, follow the bank on the left to find the trail. Turn right onto theGR®®54marked in red and white, enter the forest and join the Écrins National Park, marked by a blue, white and red flag on a fir tree.

(1) Follow the well-maintained trail created by park rangers overlooking the Torrent de la Selle. Reach the small ridge with the sign marking the park and explaining what to do.

(2) Continue along theGR®® (very poorly marked but as there is only one path, there is no need to worry about orientation). Cross the footbridge over the torrent flowing down from the Ravin du Blanc to reach the Cabane de Jas Lacroix.

(3) Retrace your steps to return to the Entre-les-Aygues car park (S/E).

Hello,
It is necessary to modify your information regarding this hike. Firstly, the Entre les Aygues car park is no longer accessible and will probably not be repaired (huge landslide in September 2024). You must therefore park well before, in the notches on the track (as other landslides have damaged the narrow road). As a result, the hike is longer. Secondly, the large footbridge has also disappeared, swept away by severe weather events. You must therefore ford the stream further away. Then retrace your steps to find the path. The first part of the climb is steep, but once you're out of it, the trail improves a little. The reward at the end is superb. Magnificent panoramas, fresh air and the herd make us forget the difficulties.
It took us a little over 3 hours to climb from point 1. Please let us know if there are any changes in terms of elevation, distance and access conditions. (according to a hiker in 07-2024). Thank you.

The hike itself is flawless. However, hikers should be aware that access to the starting point has become difficult. The road is blocked before the old car park (700 m) and the footbridge at the start has been washed away, so you will need to find a ford due to weather and geological conditions.
Further down, the road is badly damaged.
A shuttle bus runs during the season but only has 12 seats.
This spoils the fun

A very pleasant and easy hike, ideal for acclimatising to the altitude when coming from the plains!
Magnificent scenery.
A refreshing stream, very pleasant in August. You can eat by the stream.
Impossible to get lost, there is only one path.
The wooden footbridges have been rebuilt.
There are two short, easy sections where the trail overlooks the stream from a slightly higher point. You need to be careful not to slip on the earth and stones on the trail, but it's no problem with good footwear.
The car park at the start, which is also used for the climb to the Bans refuge, can quickly fill up if you arrive after 10am.
The access road from Vallouise is very narrow.

Hello and thank you very much for your feedback.
On our website, distances and elevation gains are provided by the application. When using the mobile application, the GPS chip often provides inaccurate altitude readings, mainly due to temporary loss of satellite signal. To address this issue, we have implemented a feature called "Altitude Recalculation" which eliminates inaccurate readings. In your case, the recalculation I performed on your route gives 517 m rather than 800 m.
For your route, you extended it to the footbridge, which automatically changes the elevation and distance, adding approximately 1.5 km and 100 m of elevation to the proposed route.
This is the difference with my AR, which corresponds well to the data displayed.
So, after each recording, don't hesitate to run the Altitude Recalculation, which will give you the true elevation gain.
Have a nice day

A very pleasant hike along the stream, even in the sun. The flowers and landscapes of the Écrins National Park are magnificent. However, the hike is 10 km long, not 8, and the elevation gain is 800 m. The climb is therefore a little long for children.
We saw donkeys, cows and tadpoles, which made us forget the climb!

After the hut, continue for 15 minutes until you reach the next small bridge: the view of the mountains is magnificent.

A superb hike, we didn't suffer too much from the recent heatwave. The proximity of the stream is refreshing, and this route is accessible to all and not too busy.

A beautiful hike along the stream with views of the mountains and a few snowfields on the other side of the stream.
Very few people around and a very pleasant encounter and chat with the shepherd.

A beautiful walk to start our holiday. A noisy, full torrent, waterfalls and flowers galore – welcome to the Ecrins National Park. You just have to grit your teeth for the last 5 km by car because the road is very narrow. But beautiful things are worth the effort
From the car park, the trail climbs above the stream to a small pass that has been hit by an avalanche, so the track is only visible until you reach the next flat section. After a lovely, peaceful hike, not forgetting the crossing of the snowfield before arriving at the hut.

Already familiar with this very pleasant hike, we set out to do it at the start of the season. Unfortunately, a very large snowfield prevented us from doing so because it was too dangerous. This snowfield was located just after point 1 on the map

A beautiful pastoral valley where you can encounter shepherds and their sheep, with rivers and waterfalls accompanying you for most of the walk.
The alpine lawn beyond the hikers' hut is a great place to stop for a picnic, with views of the peaks, which are lightly snow-capped in September. A very beautiful walk, not difficult, but the weather forecast is a little optimistic for those who want to take it easy.

A very beautiful hike to do in good weather but when it's cool (for the climb), superb vegetation at the end of June, a route dotted with magnificent waterfalls, you may be lucky enough to encounter a chamois like we did... in short, a real treat.
