The Blüemlisalphütte from Kandersteg via Oeschinensee

Park at the Öschiweidli car park in Kandersteg.

(S/E) Follow the path leading from the car park, which passes through a wooded area before veering right towards the stream.

(1) Turn left to follow the path which runs alongside the stream on the right bank, then later joins the Zilfuristrasse. Ignore the path branching off to the left and continue for about a hundred metres.

(2) Keep left at the three-way junction, leaving the access to the footbridge on your right, and continue along the stream.

(3) After a hairpin bend to the left, turn right (south-east).

(4) Join a small road and follow it as it continues.

(5) As you come out of a left-hand bend, leave the road and take a path on the right. Keep heading east with the stream on your right. Cross a small tributary, then move away from the stream and head north-east. Continue to Lake Oeschinensee, near a hotel.

(6) Head east and walk along the lake with it on your right.

(7) Join another path and follow it to the right, still along the lakeshore. Then move away from the bank and climb gradually. Cross a stream and continue climbing. Pass a chalet on the right and reach a junction near another chalet.

(8) Head north and follow several hairpin bends. You’ll reach a group of chalets at Oberbärgli.

(9) Carry on straight ahead, heading east. Climb up a small valley alongside a stream. Cross the stream and climb more steeply, following the switchbacks. Note a small lake below on the right (Rossbode See) and continue climbing diagonally up the southern slope of the Schwarzhore. Further on, the path turns south-east before reaching the Blüemlisalphütte.

(10) Descend via the same route to Oberbärgli.

(9) There are two options here:
- Continue along the same route as on the way up to the starting point.
- As shown on the map, turn right towards Abeweid. The path continues at a higher altitude, more or less parallel to the one used for the ascent. Walk for a long stretch, alternating between west, south-west, west and south-west.

(11) Join a wider path and follow it to the right. Head west, on almost level ground, and ignore all the turn-offs to the left.

(12) At the junction, turn left and follow a wide path heading south-east.

(13) At a three-way junction just before you reach a ski lift, veer left and pass under the ski lift cable. Continue east-southeast to the shores of Lake Oeschinensee.

(6) Then turn right and follow the ascent route in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).

You can take the chairlift up to Oeschinensee (27 CHF in 2024).
