Park in the large car park at the end of Chemin du Pas de Peycaï (former Jean Le Maitre building) in the Mérentiers district of Simiane-Colombes.
(S/E) Take the wide, stony path uphill to the left of the car park, heading south-east, following the faint blue markings. After a few bends, pass a high-voltage pylon and follow the line through the undergrowth, where the trail is sometimes difficult to see. You will come to a wire fence; follow it for about 60 metres. Look for a path starting on the right.
(1) Descend to the right on this very steep, unmarked path heading south. You will arrive above a large rock. Cross it carefully and you will see the Grotte de l'Eygrou cave on your right. Continue on and you will arrive above a rock face. Do not attempt to descend directly, but follow a trail on the left that leads to asecond high-voltage pylon. You will arrive at a track.
(2) Cross the track and descend the very stony path. At the bottom of the valley, turn right and, after about 100 m, you will reach a Y-junction at an elevation of 335 m.
(3) Turn left towards the south and follow the stream bed. Keep left at a junction with a track and pass under the high-voltage power lines. You will arrive at a Y-junction.
(4) Leave the track and turn left, following the wide path that runs alongside the stream. You will come to a T-junction.
(5) Turn left. The path narrows and becomes a trail following the stream bed, heading south then east. Ignore the trails to the left and right. The path then veers to the right of the stream and, after a steep climb, joins a track.
(6) Turn left onto the track. Discover the strange rock formations typical of this area of Pilon du Roi. At the end of the track, you will come to a watering hole for game.
(7) Turn right onto the steep path leading up to the Crêtes de l'Étoile.
At the top, turn right, heading south-west, and head for the Col des Ouides. The trail is marked in blue. Continue towards the antennas.
(8) You will arrive near the Étoile, where you will need to cross a rocky wall, which is not difficult.
Turn left and head towards the Étoile at an altitude of 652 metres. Descend along the cliffs, following the blue markings. Join the tarmac road to the television station and you will come to a signpost.
(9) Descend to the left, pass by a cave and then at the foot of the Barres de la Grande Étoile. When you reach the Belvédère de l'Étoile, turn right, go around the facilities and follow the path that joins a crossroads of DFCI tracks at an elevation of 525 metres.
(10) Take the wide DFCI trail no. 210 which descends northwards, passes the ruins of Jas de Féraud and arrives at fire cistern no. 604.
(11) Turn right towards the east and follow the sandy track.
(12) Take a shortcut on the left, then turn right to rejoin the track. Turn left onto the track and after about 60 m, look for a path on the right that climbs steeply between the trees.
(13) Turn right onto this path (caution: mountain bikes) which leads to an underground cistern (no. 83). Turn left immediately after the cistern and pass by the ruins of Jas de Roque. Cross the track twice under the high-voltage power lines and arrive at a junction of tracks and paths and a private property on the left.
(14) Cut across the track via a steep, stony path at elevation 368, which joins it further down at an abandoned house and a restricted area on the right. Follow the track heading north. Pass an underground cistern (no. 165).
Turn right onto Chemin de La Liberté and head to the car park (S/E).
