The Montlambert take-off area

A climb to a viewpoint well rewarded by a magnificent panorama. The descent can be made on foot (allow 3½ hours for the round trip) or, why not, by paraglider (allow 2 hours for the ascent).

Description of the walk

The starting point of the hike is located near the paragliding landing area. To get there, follow the D1006 between Chambéry and Albertville and take the northbound exit towards Saint-Jean de la Porte (D201F); after the first small bridge, take the track on the left and continue straight on to the car park.

(S/E) Cross the stream over the fallen pole. Go under the bridge and start climbing. The climb is gradual, so take it easy for the first few metres. Follow the D201 road to the left for a few steps, then take the first right.

(1) Turn left after the houses in Ravoire. At La Petite Tuile, follow the small road between the houses; the take-off point is clearly signposted from Chemin de la Baraterie.

(2) Near a small road, take a path on the right that climbs. Cross the hamlet of Cruet Ferroux, ignore a path branching off to the right and head into the forest.

(3) Turn left at the sign. Leave the forest and pass the fences, taking care of the livestock.

(4) Near the hamlet of Montlambert, turn left and follow the path straight on to the launch site.

(5) The descent on foot is via the same path. And, if you’re a paraglider, take off!

A well-signposted walk. I used Visorando to plan it and I’m very happy with it. A lovely walk with a beautiful view when the weather’s clear

I didn’t use Visorando for this walk, but I’m gathering information with a view to going paragliding soon.

A really lovely walk! We did a circular route, following the Visorando guide for the ascent, and came back down via the vineyard path that leads to Saint Jean la Porte. Perfect!!

Hello,
A superb walk to stretch your legs if you’re a beginner, if the weather’s a bit iffy, or if you’re short on time.
The short trail explaining butterflies and local wildlife is not to be missed. Thank you to the local council for this information panel. Thank you to those of you who introduced me to this walk.
