Description of the walk

Start : Kay Park public carpark, Kay Park Crescent, Townholm. Grid ref. NS 435 384. What3Words ///eggs.hypnotist.averts

(S/E) Exit the carpark where you will be facing the pond, turn right onto the pavement and walk a few paces until you see the entrance to Kay Park at the barrier on the left-hand side. Walk straight ahead (South-South-West) following the path, the pond will be on your left-hand side.

(1) Pass through the crossroads as you carry on straight ahead.

(2) Just before the railway underpass you'll come to a barrier where you will turn to the right to make your way up the slope (West) ; do not go under the underpass or this will take you out of the park. At the next junction continue on round to the right, passing through the barrier and heading towards the Burns Memorial Centre. At the Burns Memorial Centre turn to the right following the path until you come to a water fountain (The Edward VII Memorial).

(3) Pass the fountain which will be on your left-hand side and head towards the path lined by mature trees. Walk down the slope (East) through the avenue of trees, heading back in the direction of the pond.

(1) At the crossroads turn left and carry on straight ahead (North-North-East), the pond now on your right-hand side. Make your way back to the Kay Park entrance/exit, through the barrier, and turn left back towards the carpark and starting point (S/E).
