Start: Greenfield Valley Car Park, located on the B5121 (Greenfield Road), 500 metres from the junction of the B5121 and the A548, nearest postcode CH8 7QU. What3Words ///films.endearing.rewriting. There are a number of car parks located around the park, one on the A548, one further along Greenfield Road and another at St Winefride's Well.

(S/E) From the Greenfield Valley Car Park keep right, skirting the viewing platform for Parys Pool and follow the path around the pool until you reach the access road. Across the road is the Abbey Wire Mill Garden. You can explore the garden if you wish. After the garden, continue southwest following the garden wall until you reach the Greenfield Valley Rail and Steam Museum.

(1) If you wish you can visit the museum. After this continue to follow the path heading southwest, passing the Flour Mill Pool on your right.

(2) Bear left at the footpath junction and continue southwest with the Meadow Mill Pond on your right. The route continues past the Battery Pool. Ignore the path to the right leading to the car park at the end of Battery Pool. Then keep right, following the next path between the buildings to the main road. Turn left onto Greenfield Road and walk along the footpath to St Winefride's Well.

(3) After visiting the well, retrace your steps to the Meadow Mill (2), keeping right, following the path until you reach Basingwerk Abbey.

(4) Turn left at the abbey until you reach the gate to the abbey and the visitor centre. Here you can visit the Greenfield Valley Museum and wander around the abbey itself.

(5) From the visitor centre, continue northwest with Basingwerk House on your right and the school on your left, following the footpath back to Greenfield Valley Car Park (S/E).

Accessibility: Paths are mostly paved and this makes the walk suitable for most. However, the route to St Winefride's Well is steep and therefore it may be an option to explore the Basingwerk Abbey and surroundings, then drive up to St Winefride's Well due to the gradient of some of the paths.
