La Yecla Gorge in Santo Domingo de Silos

This very short round trip hike takes you through an extremely narrow gorge. A small stream has cut through the mountain at an impressive height (100 metres), carving out a very narrow passage: you have to bend down to get through in some places. You will see vultures on the cliffs and a metal sculpture of a vulture by the side of the path.

Description of the walk

To return to the car park from Santo Domingo de Silos, take the BU-910 road towards Aranda de Duero, drive for about 2.5 km, go through the tunnel and turn left 200 m after.

(S/E) Leave the car park via the path heading north towards the cliffs. Take the footbridge through the gorge. At the end of the gorge, walk to the small bridge over the stream.

(1) After reading the information panel on the geology of the site, continue along the path, still heading north, until you reach a metal sculpture of a vulture.

(2) Turn around and return to the car park where you started (S/E).

Notes

The route is easy to follow on a concrete footbridge with a guardrail.

Returning by road and tunnels is not recommended.

Avoid public holidays as the narrow passageway does not always allow for passing.

A lovely gorge. You can barely see the water, but you can hear it clearly. There were plenty of vultures around! A large car park and picnic tables.
