The West Highland Way (WHW) is a very popular circular route in Scotland. Covering over 150km with moderate elevation changes, it crosses the westernmost (as its name suggests) and southernmost (so to speak) parts of the Highlands.
A superb hike, characterised by the diversity of the landscapes, the ever-present water (lakes, rivers, torrents, waterfalls… and rain), and the rugged beauty of the terrain. Last but not least, you’re sure to meet some very friendly people along the way!

The seventh and final stage of the WHW takes us through stunning scenery at the foot of the Mamore range. We then pass through fairly open woodland, offering superb views of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak. Our arrival in the town of Fort William marks the end of this multi-stage walk.

This walk in the mountains north of Fort William visits the summits of Aonach Mor and Aonach Beag, both of which exceed 4,000 feet above sea level. The views on a good day are stunning especially of Ben Nevis. The route contains plenty of ascent and you should remember that suitable clothing is essential so you can cope with rapid changes in weather. There are also snow cornices to be considered.
