Park in the car park of the Fixin village hall.
(S/E) With your back to the village hall, take the path on the right that leads into the woods towards the Cent Marches via the Sentier de Découverte.
Ignore all paths branching off to the right and left and stay on the main path.
(1) At the top of the Cent Marches, take the path on the left for about 500 metres until you reach a fork.
(2) Continue to the left and follow the white/blue markings. Pass through the Combe Gourmand fir forest, following the markings to the next crossroads.
(3) When you reach a wider path, turn right and walk for about 900 metres on a slight downhill slope until you reach a large white path.
(4) Take the path opposite you, slightly to the left, for 150 metres.
(5) Keep to the right and continue along this path for 1.2 kilometres. At a small marker on the ground on your right (very close to a fir tree), turn right for 100 metres to reach a carriage road. Turn left for 100 metres to find a crossroads.
(6) Continue straight ahead on this path, which will take you to the Rente de Chamerey (lodge).
(7) When you arrive opposite the lodge, take the path on the left that runs alongside the fence. This path crosses a field for about 150 to 200 metres, then enters the edge of the woods.
(8) Viewpoint over Clemencey and Chamboeuf. From this viewpoint, walk for about 1 km until you reach a crossroads.
(9) Take the hairpin bend path that climbs to the right (do not go down to the tarmac road) and stay on this path.
(10) When you reach the top, take the path on the right before the forest barrier. Walk 100 metres, leave the path on the left and continue for about 50 metres to reach a trail. Take another trail directly in front of you, which is quite steep and slippery in wet weather. This trail will take you back to La Rente de Chamerey, behind the latter.
(7) When you reach the plough in front of the lodge, take the white path (which you took on the way there) to the next crossroads (about 200 metres).
(6) Turn right again and walk 200 metres, then take a small path on the left towards a telephone pole at the edge of the woods and the field.
Follow this path downhill for 100 metres, then continue to the right. Pass a huge rusty cauldron (used for making charcoal) on your right and you will arrive at Combe Rouge.
(11) Turn left onto the path and walk uphill for about 2 km.
(5) Continue straight ahead for 150 metres.
(4) Cross the white path and take the small path opposite (do not take the one you came up on). Descend, staying on the main path until you reach the next fork.
(2) Turn left to reach the top of the Cent Marches, which you climbed at the start of the hike.
(1) Turn right to return to the car park via the same path (S/E).
A beautiful hike, it was hot, but luckily most of it was in the shade. We were a group of 14 people aged 7 to 70, and in order to have a picnic and rest a little at midday, we had reserved tables at Chamerey, which was perfect. For the return journey, due to the fatigue of the older members of the group, we took the GR7 alternative route.
