Between land and sea north of Arzon

Hike from the Chapel of Kerners via Béninze, the peaks of Béché, Saint-Nicolas, Kerners and La Palisse, then back to Kerners.
Land, sea and typical village: in short, a magnificent overview of the landscapes of the Rhuys peninsula.

Description of the walk

Park on Place Saint-Nicolas in Kerners, opposite the chapel of the same name.

(S/E) Head south, take Grande Rue for about 30 metres, then Rue de la Butte towards Kerjouanno (road sign) for about 600 metres. N.B.: there is space to walk safely along the road, with a grassy verge.

(1) Turn left onto Chemin du Gohélec (street sign). Please note that there are no markings on the path, but it is very easy to follow.

(2) At the intersection, leave the path to the right towards Butte de César and turn left ontothe PR® (double yellow markings) to Beninze.

(3) Turn left onto Rue de la Grange for about 20 metres, then right and, just before the white barrier, take an unpaved road with no markings. It turns into a path 50 metres further on. The path is wide and clearly visible but not marked. Continue tothe GR®34(red and white markings).

(4) Follow theGR® to the left, pass Pointe du Béché, then continue to Moulin de Pen Castel and cross the dyke.

(5) After the mill, follow theGR® on the right, passing by Pointe de Saint-Nicolas and then the pier in front of the Bilouris campsite. Continue towards Pointe de Kerners and then Pointe de la Palisse. The markings are clear.

(6) Just before a car park, turn left onto a farm track that branches off sharply. There are no markings.

(7) Turn right onto a farm track that climbs uphill, leaving another track on your left. No markings.

(8) At the crossroads, turn left onto another farm track going downhill. No signposts.

(9) Turn right onto an uphill track that joins Grande Rue (municipal campsite car park: Le Tindio, on the left). Turn left and walk along the car park.

(10) Turn left onto Rue de Bilouris towards the port of Kerners (signposted) and immediately right onto Rue du Racker-AC: there is no street sign, it is the road going downhill with the No Entry sign.

About 50 metres further on, take an unmarked path on the right: be careful, it is just around the bend and therefore not very visible. Follow it to Rue Saint-Nicolas and turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).

Notes

Best done in the morning with the sun behind you, the light is magnificent and, above all, the sun is not in your eyes. If possible, do it at high tide!
Advantage of this route: very little road (about 800 m).
The elevation gain is greater than calculated by the app: 91 m on other apps and verified on site. I think the numerous steps are not taken into account!
Good shoes are recommended: lots of roots and muddy paths in winter.
TheIGN® 1:25,000 map is up to date.
Please note that there are many steps, some of which are in poor condition.

Worth a visit

Sights to see:
The typical houses in the village of Kerners and its chapel.
The Graniol covered walkway: continue to the right at the point (9) and return.
The old Pen Castel tide mill.
The Butte de César, near the crossing point (2), for a 360° view.
But above all, enjoy the many viewpoints over the Gulf and its islands (magical).

Always be cautious and plan ahead when you're outdoors. Visorando and the author of this route cannot be held responsible for any accidents occurring on this route.

A very pleasant walk, with lovely views of the golf course and very quiet, pleasant paths. The route is very well signposted. Only point 6 gave me a little pause, as there was no car park, but it wasn't a big problem.
