Between sea and countryside in Trégastel

A walk in one of the most beautiful parishes of the Côtes d’Armor. Between two stretches along the shore, after passing two megalithic monuments, you will explore a natural wonder: the Traouierio Valley, which, following a stream through a pile of rocks, will reveal all its secrets.

Description of the walk

Park in the Coz Porz car park in Trégastel (forum, aquarium). GPS: N 48.832364°/W 3.513345°

(S/E) Start the walk heading towards the sea. Turn left past the restaurants before reaching the beach and take the coastal path through the pink granite rocks. Walk along Grève Blanche beach and then Toull Bihan beach, staying as close to the sea as possible.

(1) Leave the coastal path and turn left onto Chemin du Port Clos. Cross Route de Trébeurden (D788) with care and take Route du Dolmen opposite.

(2) Turn right onto Route de Kerguntuil and walk for about 700 m.

(3) The Kerguntuil dolmen is on the left at the entrance to a meadow. Cross the meadow, where you will see a superb covered passageway against the embankment at the far end. This Neolithic monument features engravings on the inside. Leave the field, passing the ruins of an old farm on your right, and rejoin an ascending tarmac road called Route de Kerianegan. Turn left and continue to the junction at the first houses.

(4) Turn left, then follow Route de Kerianegan Vraz to the right. At the first junction, keep left onto Route du Golf.

(5) After about 700 m, turn right onto a path to join Chemin de Roc’h Bran Bihan. Follow it in the same direction until you reach Route de Lannion.

(6) Cross carefully, walk about 50 metres to the right, then turn left.

(7) At the junction, turn left and follow Route du Calvaire for about 350 m. Turn right onto Chemin de Krec’h Leo to go round the wayside shrine on the left and follow the signs for “Vallée du Traouiero”, turning right towards the cemetery.

(8) Turn right onto a path leading down to the bottom of the valley. Follow the Traouïeros nature trail which runs alongside the stream, alternating between the right and left banks. Leave the valley on the right and emerge onto Route de Randreuz.

(9) Turn left and follow the road towards the shore. Before reaching the main road (D788), take a shortcut on the left.

(10) Continue left, pass the tide mill and, at the end of the bridge, turn right onto the street called Chaussée du Port. At the second junction, turn left and continue along Chaussée du Port.

(11) Take Chemin de Crec’h Tourony opposite. Keep to the right at the small lake.

(12) Turn left to follow the shore of Poul Palud. Continue along Quai Sainte-Anne to a small car park.

(13) Continue right onto Boulevard du Coz Porz and return to the starting car park (S/E).

Notes

This hike can be done in any season, although there is a risk of muddy conditions in the Traouieros Valley in winter.

Worth a visit

A hike offering rare diversity.
Right from the start, a long stretch along the Pink Granite Coast where you walk amongst enormous boulders.
Then, at Kerguntuil, two megalithic monuments (a dolmen and a covered passageway) of great interest.
After a fairly long approach along small tarmac roads, you come face to face with a unique monument: a huge calvary.
We then enter the famous Traouierio valley, which holds many surprises.
The final section is on flat ground, running along the coast.

A very beautiful and varied hike. The coastline is magnificent, and the sea is very pleasant at high tide at the start. We passed through charming little hamlets. There is a covered walkway with moving engravings. A little disappointed by the Traouïéros valley at the start because the vegetation hides the rocky chaos. We extended our walk on the way back via the magnificent Tourony beach and the Poul Palud cove. 18 km.

A lovely route, parts of which we were already familiar with
But having started it in the opposite direction, we got lost several times; perhaps there was a lack of landmarks in the description.
Well done on choosing this walk

A lovely walk that allows you to enjoy both the stunning views from the coast and a stroll inland. The route description is very clear. It’s best to wear sturdy footwear.
We highly recommend it.

A lovely walk with no obvious difficulties. (exact route)
All in all, it’s a lovely walk: a coastal path with splendid views of the Pink Granite Coast, megaliths and the Traouierio Valley (which eventually leads through a wood), where you’ll still need sturdy footwear as the paths are shared with horses (and ploughed in places).
Very few tarmac sections.
We highly recommend it
