Description of the walk

Park in the free and easily accessible car park at Domaine d’Éole.

(S/E) Walk 200 m south-east (facing the Alpilles) until you reach the path on the right after the small olive grove.
Walk alongside the vineyards towards the forest. At the end of the vineyard, turn left under the pine trees. Stay on the edge, between the forest and the vineyards, until you reach a wider path.
Turn left onto it for a few metres to find the start of a path.

(1) Turn right at a 180° angle onto this path, passing under a power line. Reach the edge of the woods. Keep to the left. Follow the vineyards until you reach the olive trees. Continue along the vineyards at the edge of the forest. Then carry on between the hedgerows to reach a new, wider path.

(2) Take this path to the left. After the house, turn left, then right. Continue between the vineyards and olive trees. Reach a Y-shaped junction; take the right-hand branch. You will then reach a four-way junction.

(3) Here you have two options:
- turn left, follow the vineyards and then the olive grove. At the end of the field, turn left to return to the Domaine d’Éole car park (S/E),
- continue straight ahead (this is the route shown on the map), following the olive groves; at the next junction, continue straight ahead. You will reach a T-junction on a bend. Continue straight ahead and you will soon come to a four-way junction.

(4) Turn sharply left, continue along the fields and stay on this path. At the junction with the road, turn right and, at the end of the field, turn left to return to the Domaine d'Éole car park (S/E).

The route is often shaded as it runs alongside trees for much of the way

Worth a visit

Wine tasting at Domaine d'Éole
Self-guided tour of part of the vineyard and the olive grove
It’s interesting to see how the vines develop from mid-March right through to after the harvest

A short route with my mum, who was just getting back into walking... Amidst vineyards and olive groves, with a lovely view of the Alpilles, we really enjoyed this easy route. The icing on the cake was the Domaine Eole shop next to the car park, where we were able to pick up a souvenir and taste the wine from the vineyards we’d visited that day!

A pleasant walk, winding its way through vineyards and olive groves, with a few welcome stretches through the woods when the sun is beating down.
The Éole estate appears to have marked out the route and placed small signs with the names of the grape varieties at the start of each row.

Between point 4 and the Chemin du Coussoul, the route has changed: you must go straight on; if you veer off course, you’ll find yourself in the vineyards.

A lovely, interesting walk if you don’t fancy walking too far.

I agree with the previous review; I didn’t see any sections of the trail passing through private property, except on the Eole estate, but as it was Eole who posted the walk...

A pleasant walk through vineyards and olive groves.
Several previous comments suggested that the walk is “impossible” because it crosses private property. I would like to clarify that this is incorrect and that the entire walk is in fact on public paths. The people who made this comment took the wrong path and entered private property instead of following the correct path, which ran a few metres further on.

This route is NOT ACCESSIBLE as it crosses private property.
Right from the start, as soon as you leave the car park, the path indicated is not open to the public.
It is private property and we found ourselves on someone’s property, right in the middle of their garden chairs… In fact, there is a sign at the entrance to the path saying ‘no entry’.
Avoid it!
