Between the town centre and the seaside in Perros-Guirec

Explore the town centre of Perros-Guirec, its town hall and Saint-Jacques Church, then return to Trestraou Beach via the Palais des Congrès, following the GR®34. The route, which runs partly through the town and along the coastal road, presents no particular difficulty apart from an elevation gain of around 100 m.

Description of the walk

Park in one of the available car parks: see the ‘Practical Information’ section. Here, the car park right next to the entrance to Les Baladins cinema on Boulevard Thalassa.

No signposting

(S/E) With your back to the cinema entrance, turn immediately right, cross Rue de Rohellou, then head straight ahead onto Allée des Hortensias. At the bend, go up the steps (sign: ‘Pedestrian Access to Town Centre’) until you reach Rue des Bons-Enfants. Follow this road to the left until you reach the junction with Boulevard Aristide Briand.

(1) Cross to the right (pedestrian crossing) and turn into Rue du Calvaire. At the next junction, turn left onto Rue des Frères le Montréer. After about 200 metres, turn left into the pedestrian crossing leading to the town hall. Cross Rue du Général de Gaulle, continue straight ahead via a second pedestrian crossing (towards the Town Hall) to emerge onto a square. Turn right, walk past the Town Hall, then a second building. Turn right onto Rue du Maréchal Leclerc. When the street widens and becomes cobbled, walk alongside the stone buildings on your left.

(2) Turn left into the grounds of Saint-Jacques Church. Walk along the left-hand side of the church, then head down through the Passage du Souvenir Français to the Place des Halles. Cross the square and head up the path to the left of the ‘Marché’ sign. Walk along the left-hand side of Place du Marché, then turn right onto Rue Théodore Botrel. Just after the entrance to Rue de la Roche Bernard (a dead-end on the right), turn right onto a path that runs between two hedges, to the left of a gate.

(3) After the telecoms mast, turn left onto Chemin de Krec’h Morvan, then turn right at the junction onto Boulevard Clémenceau. As you round the bend, head for the Trestrignel viewpoint.

(4) Return to the boulevard and carry on. After No. 65, go down the steps on the left (towards Place de “Trestrignel”) to join Chemin de la Messe.

GR® white and red markings

(5) Follow this path to the left for just over 800 m. Pass the Commandant Per-Jakez Hélias square on your right, then Rue Rouzic on your left.

(6) At the junction, turn right into Venelle de Pors Nevez, then left into Venelle des Sept-Îles. Continue along the path that branches off to the right about sixty metres further on (staircase), joining Rue des Sept Îles. Turn right onto this street, which continues downhill to the next junction (a cobbled square), Rue du Maréchal Foch.

(7) After the access road to a hotel car park, head down to the right via the wide steps leading to the Palais des Congrès. Walk alongside it, then head down to the seafront. Turn left, passing the first-aid post and then the Rotonde. Just after the green space that follows, turn left, cross Boulevard Joseph le Bihan, then continue straight on along Square Maurice Délétère until you reach Boulevard Thalassa, opposite the cinema and the car park (S/E).
