(S) From Cambois Roundabout, at North Beach, walk west along Harbour View road crossing the roundabout.
(1) Just beyond the roundabout, Habour View will become Brock Lane, you will see an England Coast Path sign pointing to a footpath on the left. Take this footpath. This will become South View road with a gate across it, continue past the gate and walk through the village of East Sleekburn.
(2) Keep left at the junction and follow the road over the Sleek Burn. As you come out of the village, cross the river then you will see a bungalow on your left with a clearly signposted path to Mount Pleasant, take this path down through the woods. Continue across the field then turn south (right) and walk along the edge of the field (on the east side of the hedge) to Mount Pleasant Farm. Go through the gate onto the farm road.
(3) Walk a short distance on the farm road, when the road bends to the left into the farm, look to your right and go through the gate into the field. Walk down the edge of the field to River Blyth riverbank, turning right to follow the riverbank.
(4) The footpath will end at an access road, keep left and go under the A189 road bridge, then bear right up the bank to the main road (B1311). Turn right and go back under the A189 road bridge, then turn right again onto a footpath which will take you up onto the road bridge. Cross the bridge.
(5) After crossing the bridge you will see some steps signposted England Coast Path on your left, go down these steps and follow the path along the river bank.
(6) The path forks at this point, you can either walk around the penisula or turn right onto Coniston Road, follow this to the next bend crossing the stream (the penisula path rejoins the road here).
(7) If you wish to take a break at this point cross the road continue south on the footpath next to the substation to A193 Cowpen Road, directly opposite you will find the Kings Arms pub, a McDonalds and a Greggs. Retrace your steps back along the footpath to Coniston Road. Take the cycle path which says Town Centre and Tynemouth.
Continue following the cycle path along the river bank until you reach the boatyard.
(8) At the boatyard, turn right and follow the access road south until you reach the main A193 opposite the church. Take the road (Crawford Street) on your left hand side behind the petrol station which heads in a north east direction. This will eventually end at junction with the B1329 (Hodgson's Street).
(9) At the junction go straight on in a south easterly direction into Regent Street. Keep following the B1329, this turns left into Maddison Street. Cross the roundabout, still following the B1329.
(10) You will reach a brick wall here, follow the footpath on your left as it leaves the road.
Continue on this footpath/cycle path until it reaches the harbour. (E)
