Tour of the Cerdon heights
The aim of the route is to complete a beautiful loop overlooking the Cerdon: after crossing the vineyards overlooking the valley, the route continues on the plateaus of Saint-Alban and Labalme, returning to the starting point via the Combe Cugnat and a slight detour via Mont Carmier.
Walks near Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste (Cerdon)
Chevanel - Vaux-en-Bugey
Fourth stage of the Way of St James. A stage through varied, rolling countryside of vineyards, meadows and woods, starting from Neuville-sur-Ain and passing through pretty villages and small towns, ending with a stunning view of Allymes Castle and the Ambérieu plain.
Grand Corent - Chevanel
Third stage of the Way of St James. A pleasant stage with some elevation gain, shaded sections and stretches on tarmac and dirt tracks.
Vaux en Bugey-Siccieu
Fifth stage of the Way of St James. This somewhat long stage takes you across the Rhône at Lagnieu. The rest of the route is less interesting and, above all, involves too much tarmac, but there is no alternative if you want to rejoin the GR®65.
La Ferme du Retord - Giron
Accessible from 1 April to 30 November, subject to snow conditions.
Second stage of the GRP® de la Valserine. Starting from the town, the route climbs gradually towards the Plateau de Retord, with a view of the remaining path and, in good weather, a panorama of the Alps. The stage then crosses Giron (1,000 m), the highest commune in the Ain, before reaching Lélex and ending at the Pertes de la Valserine.
