Description of the walk

(S) From the Batère Refuge, take the road due west until you reach a sharp right-hand bend.

(1) Fork in the road. Leave the red and whiteGR®®10 trail. Turn left, leaving a building used as a sheepfold on your right. Now follow the red and yellow markings. Do not descend towards the bivouac area. The path remains on the hillside, heading southwest. Pass an old iron mine entrance on your right. After 300 m, the path turns left and descends rapidly south-east into the forest. After an open area, you will reach the altitude of 1272 m. The path heads due west into the forest. Cross the Ravin de las Canals stream. The path now descends due south. Pass the altitude of 1074 m and a stream that is often dry.

(2) Fork. Take the right fork, heading due south, uphill, still in the forest. Pass the altitude 1117 m. The path turns right, heading due south-west. Pass another stream, which is often dry, and the altitude 1250 m. The path heads due south. Leave the forest. You will arrive at a track in good condition, in a clear area at the Coll d'En Cé crossroads (1260 m), where there is an apiary in summer.

(3) Turn right onto the grassy track for a few metres. Pass a barrier and some signposts. Follow the red and yellow markings. Climb to the right into the pasture parallel to the track on your left. After 300 m, the path climbs into the forest, heading north-west, and quickly moves away from the track. Pass the altitude 1525 and continue to leave the forest and reach a fork (1645 m). Open area.
Note: From the start at Col d'En Cé, if the path, marked in red and yellow, is congested or difficult to find, follow the track (alternative route) to the El Riuferrer torrent (direction sign).

(4) Yellow signpost faded. Turn left and follow the red and yellow markings. Leave the blue markings on your right. Do not climb towards the ridge.
The path may be congested. Stay on the mountainside at Les Canals de Léca, on the edge of the forest on your left. Pass the altitude 1663. The path heads due west and remains more or less on the mountainside. It then heads due south-west. You will come to a fork (1550 m).

(5) Turn left and descend towards the track that can be seen below.
I have marked the signposts. Caution: Do not cross the two streams flowing from the two ravines.
Join the track.

(6) This is the junction for those who choose to follow the track from Coll d'en Cé.
Fork (1460 m). Turn right, behind the rock, and follow the red and yellow markings.
Cross El Riuferrer and climb back up into the forest, heading south-east. You will reach a fork (1410 m).

(5) Do not descend into the forest. Turn right, continuing south-east. The path heads south then west and opens out into a wide area. The hut in the pasture is the landmark. Continue climbing towards the Cabane de La Devèsa (1659 m).

(8) Captured spring, drinking troughs. The path heads due south. Pick up a grassy track and cross the Ravin de La Devèsa stream, leaving a dam on your left, which serves as a rockfall barrier, and continue due south along a track. Cross the Ravin de l'Estagnol stream (1673 m). The track heads south-east and enters the forest. You will arrive at another large grazing area at a crossroads of tracks and paths at Coll de l'Estanyol, altitude 1667.

(9) Signposts. Turn right, heading south-west, following the red and yellow markings, along a grassy track that enters the forest. Continue climbing along the track, which ends at around 1,740 m. Continue along a beautiful path that climbs to the edge of the forest and joins a fork at altitude 1,772.

(10) Signposts. Turn left and descend steeply along a path that enters the forest again. Follow the red and yellow markings.

(11) Fork (1,600 m). Turn right, continuing to follow the red and yellow markings. Cross the Ravin du Rossignol stream and join a track at a crossroads (1,350 m).

(12) Signposts. Continue straight ahead towards the private chapel of Sant-Guillem. Go around it on the right, respecting the site and its inhabitants. Further down, join a track suitable for vehicles. Turn right and continue to the Sant-Guillem refuge (1283 m) (E).

A magnificent hike, a little-used route, very well marked (red and yellow: Tour du Canigou), we took less than 6 hours (good walking pace)
