Other walks in the area
Teno Alto circular
A short circular walk on the Teno Alto plateau, inspired by the "Teno Alto Self-Guided Trail" on the website www.tenerifeon.es. We start from the small plaza in the center of the village (plaza de Teno). The route begins on paths through pastures between farms where goats are raised and cheese made. The village is then reached by skirting a volcanic hill with caves.
Beautiful views of the countryside, pastures, the sea, the Isle of Gomora and Teide.
At the end, a final round-trip section with shaded sections offers a view of Punta del Teno.
At the time of the walk (mid-November 2023), the Los Bailadreros bar was open in the village and connected to the square, where we were able to eat and drink. In fact, it's frequented by many hikers on much longer treks.
At the foot of the Chinyero volcano
Magnificent, easy hike through a fairy-tale forest, past a black volcano and rocky landscapes. Easy and beautiful. Done with children aged 6 and 9, without any problems.
Tour of the Chinyero volcano
An easy family hike that allows you to admire the last volcano to emerge in Tenerife by walking around it. You will walk among the volcanic fallout on a good path. The massif is dotted with pine trees, some denser than others.
Garachico, San Juan del Reparo, Genoves and El Guincho
After a fairly steep climb, walk along the heights of Garachico with beautiful views of the coast. Return to Garachico not recorded, but possible along the road. Please note that access to the banana plantations from El Guincho beach is not possible.
"Caminando entres los volcanes" in Teide National Park
An easy loop through an incredible volcanic landscape. A must-see in the Teide National Park.
Sentero de los Roques de Garcia
Undoubtedly one of the most interesting hikes for those who don't have much time. Views of Mount Teide, lava flows, "Wild West" rock formations. You'll get an overview of the area's panoramas in a hike that's accessible to all.
A variety of landscapes between El Teide and Montaña Guajara
An easy hike on a good path. You’ll enjoy superb views of El Teide and the surrounding area. Then you’ll encounter rugged, eroded rocks in a variety of shapes and colours as you approach Montaña Guajara (alt. 2,717 m), the highest peak in the vast caldera. Towards the end of the route, you’ll see viper’s bugloss, those tall plants endemic to Tenerife that bloom red (in the right season). As a bonus, there’s a safe car park.
A loop of the Pic du Guajara
A superb loop on one of Tenerife's most beautiful peaks. The whole circuit offers an extraordinary view of the caldera and the summit of the Pico del Teide. The difficulty lies in the suspended passage below the summit. It's an aerial passage, but never exposed, so don't attempt it if visibility is poor.
New markings have been added to some of the passages, so the description below will probably have to be adapted to the new markings on the summit section.
