From Sognsvann Lake to Midtstuen via Ullevålseter

This walk between the lake and the forest is easy to access (direct by metro) and follows only forest paths. It offers the possibility of a break halfway at the café.

Description of the walk

(S) From the Sognsvann metro station, head towards Sognsvann Lake.

(1) Continue straight ahead, following the eastern shore of the lake.

(2) Leave the path that goes around the lake and continue north.

(3) When you reach another lake, continue north along the lake.

(4) Turn left to climb towards Ullevåseter.

(5) Turn left, heading south towards Midtstuen.

(6) Turn right towards Midtstuen.

(7) Continue straight ahead.

(8) Take the left-hand path.

(9) Pass under the ski jumps.

(E) You have arrived at Midtstuen metro station.

Practical information

At the start (1), you can buy coffee, snacks and ice cream at the kiosk. Toilets are available near the lake.
The café at Ullevålseter (5) is a good place to stop halfway. You can enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat. There are toilets outside the café.

In the nearby area

In the last kilometre, the forest thins out and there are beautiful views of Oslo before passing the bottom of the Midtstubakken ski jumps (9).
Midtstuen metro station is also the finish point for the Korketrekkeren toboggan run (starting at Frognerseteren). Built in the early 20th century, it was used as a bobsleigh track during the 1952 Olympic Games.
