Parking is available at the bar and castle on Route de Vernay, before the Saint-Cyr-de-Valorges exit on the D64.
(S/E) Turn right with your back to the château, turn left at the stop sign, then left again in front of the church square onto Chemin de la Place. Pass the boules court to reach the Y-junction of two roads.
(1) Take the left-hand road, Chemin du Pas. At the end of the climb to the cross, keep right and continue for about 100 metres until you reach the path on the left.
(2) Take this path and follow it to the farms in the hamlet of Machézallet.
(3) After thefirst farm, turn right and go down the path.
(4) After thesecond stream, head left and go up the path to the crossroads with a cross.
(5) Continue straight ahead, heading south, down the path to the houses and turn left. Follow this tarmac road to the next crossroads. Keep to the right, then leave the right-hand lane and turn left towards the dam. Cross the dyke.
(6) After the dyke, immediately take the path on the left and after 100 m, turn left. At the next crossroads, take the path opposite until you reach a large building with a big tree in front of it.
(7) Go up the tarmac road on the right, then at the T-junction, turn left and after about 300 metres turn right. Go down the path, after a group of houses visible on the right about 250 metres away, take a path on the left and go down to the stream. If this path is blocked, continue along the tarmac road to the next houses and take the path on your left which goes down to the stream.
(8) Cross the stream and take the path on the left. Climb up to the D1. Cross the road carefully and climb up to the restaurant "Le Chêne".
(9) Leave the restaurant on your right and turn left towards the crossroads and Route de Montchal (D107). Go up to the right and then, at the end of the bend, take thefirst path on the left. Follow it, keeping to the left, and rejoin the D1 for a few metres; take the path on the right and go up to the houses. Continue on the right, pass in front of a factory and a group of houses, and go to the crossroads.
(10) Turn right then immediately left, pass in front of an "igloo" house, continue straight ahead ignoring the paths on your right, until you reach the D1.
(11) Follow the departmental road towards the village of Violay. After the roundabout, climb up to the war memorial.
(12) In front of the Picamal restaurant, turn left, leave the monument on your right and go up Rue du Monument to the next large crossroads. Turn left, then right at the chapel and go up the path between the cemetery and the salting house. You will arrive at an old body shop. Continue straight ahead until you reachthe GR®7(Route des Crêtes).
(13) Once you reach the ridges, keep left and continue north until you reach the next crossroads at Croix Armide. Continue straight on theGR®7, which heads north-west until you reach the crossroads with a cross.
(14) Continue straight ahead, after a long straight stretch in the open, until you reach the edge of a wood, at the crossroads of three paths.
(15) Leave theGR®7by turning left and follow the path down to the D49.
(16) Cross the D49 carefully and go down the path opposite. Ignore the path on the left, then "l'Impasse du Sapin" and continue to the next crossroads.
(17) Go down the path on the right, pass in front of a pond to reach a farm. In front of it, take the path on the left to the next tarmac road. Then turn completely right and go up past a house. After this, continue for about 120 m.
(18) Leave the tarmac road and take the path on the left heading west. It descends to the Machézallet farms you passed on the way there. When you reach thefirst tarmac road, turn left. You have now completed a circular route.
(3) Continue straight ahead, following the same route as on the way there, to return to the car park at Saint-Cyr-de-Valorges (S/E).
