Description of the walk

(S) On leaving Nogent-sur-Marne RER station, follow Avenue des Marronniers to the left, towards the Hôpital Privé Armand Brillard. At the end, turn left and cross the D86 (Avenue de Joinville). Continue along Avenue Watteau, still heading towards the Hôpital Brillard.

(1) Just before the hospital, take a footpath on the right between the car park entrance and a block of flats. Cross Allée Jean-Guy Labarbe and go down a flight of steps. Then cross Avenue Charles V towards Square d’Yverdon and follow Avenue Franklin Roosevelt to the end, by the banks of the Marne.

(2) Follow Boulevard de la Marne to the left and walk alongside the Fédération Française d'Aviron building on your right. At the end of this building, turn right onto Promenade Yvette Horner. Keep going straight ahead, ignoring the turn-offs on the left. Head towards the banks of the Marne and walk past a stadium on your left. Walk along the Port de Nogent on your right and take the Passerelle des Arts.

(3) Go under the Pont de Nogent, follow Rue de Nazaré, continue along Quai du Port and go under a railway bridge. Walk for a long stretch along the Marne, which is on your right.

(4) Go under the Pont de Bry and continue along the banks of the Marne on the Quai de Champagne until you reach the Passerelle de Bry (at Rue du Bac).

(5) Take the footbridge to cross the Marne. On the other side, turn left and walk along the Marne on your left now, on Quai Adrien Mentienne.

(6) Go under a railway bridge and continue along the towpath. Go under another railway bridge, then under the footbridge by the waterworks.

(7) Pass under the Neuilly-sur-Marne Bridge and continue along the river. Note the Neuilly-sur-Marne marina on the opposite bank. Continue along Quai de la Rive Charmante then along Quai de la Marne. Walk past a stadium on your right.

(8) At the corner of the stadium (fountain), turn right onto Promenade François Mitterrand and pass between the sports fields. Cross Rue des Sports and follow a path interspersed with steps. Cross Rue des Sources then Rue de la Terrasse.

(9) Cross the D970 (Boulevard Paul Pambrun) and continue straight ahead into Rue Georges Laigneau. At the foot of Noisy-le-Grand Town Hall, turn right onto Avenue Aristide Briand. Go straight on until the junction with Rue de la République (Espace Michel Simon opposite).

(10) First turn right then left onto the Mail du Clos Saint-Vincent (pedestrian walkway). Cross Rue des Vergers and continue to a pond on a semi-circular esplanade. Then head to the right (Allée des Petits Jardins). At the end, turn left onto Rue du Dr Sureau.

(11) At Rue de Prague (on the left-hand side), turn right onto a path. At the junction immediately ahead, turn left and, of the three paths available, take the middle one, which is flat. Walk around the lake on the left and, after a playground, take the footbridge on the left that crosses over the railway line. On the other side, turn right, walk past the coach station and you will soon reach Noisy-le-Grand - Mont-d’Est station (E).

Bus route 120 will take you back to your starting point (Nogent-sur-Marne RER station), unless you’d prefer to take the RER, in which case you’ll need to change at Vincennes to head towards Boissy-Saint-Léger and get off at Nogent-sur-Marne.

I really enjoyed this short walk because it was fairly quiet and quite wild and picturesque, compared to other walks I’ve done along the Marne. You come across quite a few rowers, pretty bridges and charming houses. A lovely breath of fresh air and a taste of the countryside, just a 15- to 20-minute RER ride from Nation!

A lovely walk along the banks of the Marne. There are inevitably other walkers, but it’s very pleasant. It’s an easy walk as it’s flat. There are some beautiful houses; I’d definitely recommend it :-)

A pleasant walk along the water’s edge, easy to follow and varied, with beautiful houses to admire along the way. It’s not at all difficult, but it’s peaceful and enjoyable from start to finish.
