From Montagne Bois Noir to Mont Limon

This hike to Mont Limon takes you to the highest point on Rodrigues. Based in Montagne Bois Noir, the start is ideal: the hike is not very difficult, but it allows you to fully immerse yourself in the Rodrigues atmosphere. Here, life flows peacefully: unhurried mornings and gentle afternoons.
Nature is lush and animals — cows, goats, pigs, chickens and dogs — live almost freely, giving the island an authentic, rural charm.
The table d'hôte at the starting point is located at an altitude of 280 metres, not far from Mont Lubin, a strategic location on the island. This is where all the buses connecting the four corners of Rodrigues meet.

Description of the walk

From our base, we join the road to Palissade and continue along it to Point 1, then take the stairway to the top of Mount Limon (Point 2). A sign indicates Belvédère 1 and Belvédère 2. Go first to 1 (Point 3) to take some photos and enjoy the beautiful view of the lagoon, then head to 2 (Point 4) viewpoint and take the red-purple marked trail to point 5. Turn left onto the road to point 6, then turn right to return to the starting point. The hike can start and end in Palissade.
