Description of the walk

Park in the car park located in the centre of the Menthières resort.

(S/E) Head left, then, at La Gentiane restaurant, climb up to the right to reach the top of Menthières.

(1) From this point, cross the road and take the path that passes under the undergrowth. It veers to the right and crosses again a hundred metres further on. The route continues along a few trees and joins a car park.

(2) At Col de Menthières, take the path to the right of the car park and go around the farm to follow the bottom of the valley to a place called La Grange Velue.

(3) Opposite, head towards "la Pelaz" and "la Poutouille", continuing to follow the GRP®. The path is mainly in the woods. At the end, you will reach a track.

(4) Take a sharp left turn. Negotiate a hairpin bend to the right and you will arrive at an intersection at the entrance to the Haute Chaîne du Jura Nature Reserve.

(5) Turn left, then follow the path, continuing towards "La Pelaz" and "La Poutouille". Stay on the marked path until you reach Combe de la Pelaz.

(6) Take a steep climb on the right to reach a beautiful view of Crêt d'Eau and the entire Retord Plateau. On this section, the path winds through undergrowth, forest and combe, then arrives at the Refuge de la Poutouille.

(7) Take the same route back to the car park (S/E).
