Description of the walk

The start of this hike is at the car park at the summit of the Obersolberg. To get there, head towards Munster then Eschbach-au-Val and follow the road up to the Obersolberg. A car park is located a few metres from the summit junction, before the houses.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, take the Obersolberg road on the right heading south.

(1) At the junction with Chemin de l'Erschritt, turn sharp right, heading north, onto the road towards Obersolberg.

(2) 100 m before the houses, take the path on the left which climbs towards Solberg.

(3) From this spot, you’ll be treated to a beautiful view of the Munster valley and the Col de la Schlucht. A large reservoir, currently empty (May 2026), lies at the foot of the pylon. It is a former hydroelectric facility belonging to an ETS (Energy Transfer Station) of the Hartmann Works in Munster. The lower reservoir and the hydroelectric plant are located more than 1.5 km further down, near the football pitches in the town of Munster. Continue the hike due south, following the Red Disc marked trail.

(4) At the junction with the Yellow Triangle marked trail, turn left onto the track and follow it straight on.

(5) At the junction, turn right onto the path marked with a Blue Triangle. When you reach the Ried farmhouse inn, take the path marked with a Red Disc heading south-west.

(6) Continue following the Blue Cross markings. Cross the small bridge over the Runzbach stream.

(7) At Braeschenberg, continue to the right on the path marked with a Yellow Cross. Pass the Christlesgut farmhouse and arrive at a junction.

(8) Turn left onto the path marked with a Blue Disc and head towards the hamlet of Stemlisberg.

(9) At the bottom of the hamlet, take the path on the right heading east.

(10) After crossing the Runzbach stream, stay on this path climbing to the left (do not follow the Red Cross route) and reach a tarmac road. Follow this down for 50 m.

(11) Take the path on the right leading towards the summit of Solberg.

(3) 60 m before reaching the summit, turn right and, following the route back along the way you came, join the Obersolberg Road.

(2) Follow it to the right for 50 m and leave it to continue straight on to the car park at the top of Obersolberg (S/E).
