From Coignières to Montfort-l’Amaury, via Les Mesnuls

A very lovely walk, with plenty of beautiful woodland, including the superb oak forest of the Bois des Hautes Bruyères. There are also numerous points of interest, the most notable being: the Jean Monnet House Museum, the Château des Mesnuls, and in Montfort-l’Amaury, the Maurice Ravel House, the castle ruins and their superb views. Beautiful villages and charming churches, many of which are open to visitors.

Hello, I followed this route up to point 7 on my way to Jean Monnet’s house; the route is VERY pleasant and very well described. Unfortunately, I tried to carry on along the GR to reach Montfort Méré station to the north, relying on a map from the GR tourist office: that section is poorly signposted and passes through areas without a single tree, with nothing but the motorway and combine harvesters – I wouldn’t recommend it! I’m thinking of doing it again, simply as a return trip between Coignières station and Jean Monnet (i.e. D-7-D), as the option of taking a hypothetical 5317 bus from Montfort, as suggested in the guide, doesn’t seem feasible to me. Thanks again. Kind regards
