Description of the walk

In Pommard, parking spaces are available around the church.
Hike marked in yellow (PR® no. 13), circular route.

(S/E) From the front of the church, with your back to the entrance, head left onto Rue de la Métairie. Ignore a street on the right, then another on the left. At the Fork in the road, keep to the right.

(1) At the Fork in the road, opposite a cross, keep to the right. Further on, join a road and follow it to the left. You will arrive in Volnay. Continue straight on to the end of the street, where you will reach Place de l’Église, with Place de la Mairie on your left and the church on your right.

(2) Turn right, walk past the church on your left, then veer slightly to the right, ignoring Rue de la Combe on your left, and continue along Rue de Mont. Veer to the left, ignoring Rue Saint-Étienne on your right, then turn into the second street on the left, the cul-de-sac Rue de Lassolle. At the end of the street, follow the path on the left between the two properties. Climb a series of steps to reach the statue of Notre-Dame des Vignes. Walk round it to find the continuation of the path. You’ll come to a junction of paths at the Notre-Dame des Vignes signpost.

(3) Follow the sign for PR®13 Pommard on the right. You are now also on the GRP® des Grands Crus, marked in red and yellow. At the T-junction with a track, turn right. At the next junction, look for the ‘Puits de Chaux’ signpost. Continue straight on towards PR®13 Pommard.

(4) At the next junction, where the road meets a track, leave the GRP® and follow the track to the left. Go straight on when the track bends to the right, then keep to the right at the Fork in the road just after (the left-hand track is not shown on maps).

(5) At the junction of the tracks, carry on straight ahead towards the ‘Pays Beaunois 13’ signpost. The track then takes a wide bend to the right and reaches a junction of tracks and a small road at the ‘Les Vaumuriens’ signpost.

(6) Carry on straight ahead towards PR®13 Pommard. You’ll come across the GRP® signposting again, which you should follow almost all the way to the finish. Stay on this small road, ignoring any offshoots.

(7) Further on, pass a spring on the right-hand side of the road, then an irrigation basin a little further on, where small canals begin to wind their way down into the vineyard plots. Ignore a road on the right.

(8) At the crossroads, as you reach Pommard, continue straight ahead along Rue du Charmillot. Turn into the first street on the right, Rue Notre-Dame, leaving the GRP® trail, and you’ll arrive at the church (S/E).
