Single vineyard wines from Domaine Verret

Fancy a charming and informative ride? Hop on your mountain bike and set off to discover the four single-vineyard wines of Domaine Verret!
Along the way, scan the QR codes on small wooden posts to learn more about each plot: grape variety, history, winemaking techniques, and more.

You will pass by "Les Gaudiers", a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, then "Les Mazelots", dominated by Pinot Noir, the star grape variety of our eponymous Irancy wine.
You will then cross "Palotte", our oldest vineyard, rich in secrets and character, before reaching "Veaupiary", planted exclusively with Sauvignon, which produces our Saint-Bris of the same name.

A getaway combining nature, heritage and a passion for wine, ideal for the curious and wine lovers alike! The hike starts from the estate car park, so you can enjoy a well-deserved tasting on your return.

Description of the route

Departure from the large car park at Domaine Verret, Route des Champs.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, turn right onto Route des Champs and turn left onto Route de Bailly at the first crossroads. Continue along this road until you find a path on the right, a few metres before the end of the hill.

(1) Turn right at the edge of a grove, then left twice between the vines to reach the top of Gaudier and its plot of Pinot Noir.

(2) Go downhill opposite until you reach the crossroads and the Chardonnay plot.

(3) Turn left and continue straight ahead towards the pass. Continue on the road opposite, which climbs up to a track on the left, just after the sign for the Col du Crémant.

(4) Climb up this track and follow it to the end, ignoring any intersections.

(5) Follow the road to the left, then turn right onto the track at the top of the climb. Look down over a first valley on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the end of the ridge.

(6) Do not cross over to the other side, but climb up the path on the left. Stay in the wooded area, turn left/right before going straight ahead twice, down the steep slope between the vineyards, and you will quickly reach a junction.

(7) Turn left, then descend towards Les Mazelots and go left until you reach a crossroads and the start of the César "Mazelots" plot.

(8) Descend to the end of the vineyard, then the Pinot Noir plot "Les Mazelots".

(9) Continue downhill. When you arrive in Irancy, you can stop for a bite to eat or a drink, otherwise turn right at a sharp angle onto Chemin des Fossés and join the departmental road.

(10) Turn right/left onto Rue Les Promenades, then keep right on Chemin des Marteaux. Turn right again at the bend and keep right towards Les Marteaux. Take the first path on the left and you will arrive near a reservoir.

(11) Turn right, leave a PR® on your left, and continue straight ahead on the grassy path. Descend into the Vauchassy valley and, at the edge of the woods, climb up to the left until you reach the track.

(12) Continue, turning right along the woods. A few metres before the three-way junction, go up the path on the left through the vineyards. At the track, go up to the left then continue straight ahead on the grassy path overlooking Vau Pessiot. Follow the edge of the woods until you reach a cross track.

(13) Go almost straight ahead, then turn left and climb up to reach a road.

(14) Keep left, then turn right and climb steeply through the vineyards to the end of the plot. Go left, then right along a wood to the start of the descent.

(15) Go downhill, then keep right at the crossroads. At the four-way intersection, go downhill to the left and head towards Irancy. Continue straight ahead to reach Rue Soufflot.

(16) Opposite No. 25, turn right. Wine tasting is available in the village. At the town hall, turn left onto Rue Saint-Martin, then left again onto Ruelle des Canes. At the end, turn left (Rue Basse) then quickly right onto Ruelle du Ru. Follow it straight ahead to the large crossroads at the playground and car parks.

(17) Turn left/right and follow the track, which starts between the buildings. At the end, continue right until you reach a road.

(18) Go up this road, cross the pass and, before starting the descent, take the track opposite and arrive at the start of the Sauvignon "Veaupiary" plot.

(19) Turn left and follow the woods until you find a path on the right.

(20) Take this path and cross the woods. At the end, turn left and then right, down the steep slope between vineyards and fields. At the crossroads, turn left and continue to the bottom of the valley. Continue downhill to the right (Vallée de Vallière), follow the woods and continue to the corner.

(21) Continue left, uphill, follow the edge on your left, then go around the vineyards and arrive at a four-way intersection. Go straight ahead downhill and reach the next one.

(22) Turn right, then left and go down the slope to a road.

(23) Cross it and take the track opposite. At the next junction, turn right, then go straight ahead towards the village. At the road, turn left and head for the estate car park (S/E).

Practical information

Before you go, here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your walk through the vineyards:

Don't forget to bring water!
There are no water points along the route, so bring something to drink, especially in summer.

In case of sunshine: be prepared!
A cap, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen... everything you need to enjoy yourself without ending up as red as a Burgundy wine.

Comfortable shoes and a good mood are highly recommended!

Departure and return from the large car park at Domaine Verret, which is easy to access and free of charge.

Enjoy the wine cellar to end the day with a tasting of our single-vineyard wines, the ones you've just seen, and ask our team any questions you may have.

In the nearby area

The walk doesn't end there: along the way, you'll cross the rolling landscapes of the Auxerrois region, between woods, stone walls and breathtaking views of the hillsides.

A stop in Irancy is a must!
We recommend the restaurant Le Soufflot Irancy, a local establishment serving quality cuisine.
And for wine lovers keen to discover other producers, several wine cellars are open to visitors: Domaine Ferrari, Gabin et Félix Richou, and Benoît Cantin.

And of course, at the start or end of your ride, we welcome you to the Domaine Verret wine cellar for a guided tasting of our wines.

A wonderful getaway combining nature, local produce and gourmet pleasures... Get on your bikes!
