Cromer Promenade and Pier

This short circular walk takes in the promenade, pier and town centre with the church of St Peter and St Paul at the end.

Description of the walk

Start : North Norfolk Visitor Centre (NR27 9EF) Grid ref. TG 217 421

(S/E) From the visitor centre, cross the road and turn left. At the junction turn right down West Street (this is part of the Weavers' Way trail). Cross Hamilton Road and continue down Garden Street until you reach the Hotel de Paris. Continue straight ahead to Jetty Cliff and then walk down the ramp to the Esplanade.

(1) Enter the pier and walk to the end where you will find the RNLI Lifeboat Station. Retrace your steps and at the pier entrance turn right walking along the Promenade. You will pass The White Steps on your left, continue along the Promenade.

(2) When you reach the Artspace on the Prom gallery, take the path upwards via the Zig-Zag Slopes to the bowling green and putting green. At the top, turn left (Esat) and walk along the upper promenade back to the Hotel de Paris and the slope down to pier which you took earlier in the walk. Turn right at the end of the Hotel de Paris into Jetty Street.

(3) Jetty Street will become High Street, the church will be on your left. At the junction, turn right onto Church Street for 100m then turn left up Chapel Street. Cross the road to the visitor centre (S/E).

Practical information

Transport: Meadow Road Car Park is located beside the visitor centre. From Cromer Station, exit onto Holt Road, turning left and then into West Street, you should see the visitor centre on your right.

Facilities: There are a number of cafes in the town and on the promenade and pier. There are a number of public toilets along the promenade.

Accessibility: The whole route is accessible via steep ramps.
