(S) From the car park at the Gréolières les Neiges resort, go to marker 206 and follow the road that climbs in a long left-hand bend to marker 208.
(1) From the marker, take the path (well marked during the season) that climbs through the forest towards the north-east. From marker 209, descend in the same direction to marker 213.
(2) At marker 213, turn right towards the south-east. The path is on a ledge and gradually turns eastwards, allowing you to admire the view of the snow-capped peaks of the Mercantour!
(3) When you reach marker 214, take the trail that climbs to the right towards the east, still in the forest. After a steep but short climb, you will reach a bare pass. The trail heads south then south-west. Cross a small wild valley and you will reach marker 215 at the foot of the Croix de Verse.
(4) Take the track that climbs up to the right towards Plan des Baumettes heading west.
(5) Just before the plateau, at a pass, leave the track and start the climb towards the Croix de Verse, heading due south. The route is fairly obvious. When you reach the base of the summit, do not climb directly. Go around it to the west to reach the ridge, then follow it to the summit of the Croix de Verse, which you can still try to find...
(6) From the summit, there is a magnificent 360° view of the entire Mercantour mountain range and, on the other side, the Gorges du Loup and the Mediterranean Sea. There are also many vultures taking advantage of the updrafts along the Montagne du Cheiron.
To descend, follow the ridge westwards to a pass where a trail descends to Plan des Baumettes.
(7) Once at this pass, below the Jérusalem pylon, leave the ridge and join the northern ridge of Jérusalem, following it along the side in a north-westerly direction. Once on the ridge, you will have a beautiful view of the small ski resort of Gréolières les Neiges. Follow the ridge north, then north-east to a small pass next to the 1540m point.
(8) Follow the track to the left heading west then north-west, which descends gently to the resort and our starting point. Be careful, as this section is very close to the downhill ski slopes.
