From Beaufort sur Doron, take the road that leads to Lake Roselend. Pass the dam and follow the road that runs alongside it.
At the fifth hairpin bend, leave the road on the left and take a fairly good track to Treicol.
Park your car in the car park.
Take the track that follows the car park and follow the markings and the path that cuts across the hairpin bends until you reach theGR®5(Tour du Beaufortain), which you will follow to the finish point.
When you reach the Col du Bresson (1), follow the path on the left leading to the Presset refuge (2), which you can see on its rocky base.
Pass the refuge and go around the lake nestled behind it on the right.
Follow the path on the left, which is less obvious than the one on the right, which also climbs to a pass not named on the IGN map.
If you take the wrong path, it's no big deal, as you'll still be able to admire the view of Mont Blanc.
A ridge path (for experienced hikers only) connects the two passes.
The path leading to the Col du Grand Fond (3) seems to disappear into the rocky scree, but the route is obvious.
Cautiously navigate the boulders and scree as best you can.
After 160 metres of this above the refuge, you will reach the highest point.
The return journey follows the same route.

For the return trip, I went via Pierra Menta and Lac d'Amour, which makes for a very pretty circular route.
