Col de Gatteloup (200m) walks

The Grande Traversée des Maures, Montem Maurum described in the Middle Ages, has never been attempted. This "diagonal of the Maures" allows us to discover magnificent Provençal landscapes. Varied, wild vegetation and exceptional views punctuate this route, which starts in Collobrières (capital of the Maures) and leads to La Garde Freinet, the highest village in the Massif des Maures.

A pleasant hike in the countryside and a visit to the Chartreuse de la Verne. You can also access this hike by taking the ST Julien path (on the left at the first traffic lights when coming from Toulon). The dam area is no longer accessible by car. Park before the barrier on the right-hand side of the road near a small wood and continue on foot to the dam.

The Grande Traversée des Maures, or "Montem Maurum" as it was described in the Middle Ages, has never been attempted. This adventure begins in Hyères (former Templar commandery) and ends in Collobrières (capital of the Maures) during the first stage.

This final stage, which links La Garde-Freinet to Roquebrune-sur-Argens, is part of the Grande Traversée des Maures "Montem Maurum". This diagonal route across the Maures mountains offers magnificent views amid varied and wild vegetation. The Rocher de Roquebrune appears from an original angle, in all its dazzling beauty.
