Col de d'Izon (1343m) walks

This is the second stage of the Tour de la Méouge, which you can skip but which is so beautiful! It's a distillation of the nature of the Baronnies Provençales, from the sunny Provençal adret with its aromatic scents to the humid beech forests, passing through pastures and lavender fields. A wild atmosphere and breathtaking views are guaranteed, especially on the Chamouse ridges.

A beautiful walk that takes you from the hamlet of Somecure to the breathtaking promontory of Montagne de Chamouse. Exceptional views of the Baronnies, Montagne de Lure and Dent de Mévouillon.

From the magnificent Méouge Gorges to the spectacular Chabre and Saint-Cyr ridges, via the summit of the Chamouse mountain and Provençal villages such as Lachau and Eourres, this walking route around the Méouge allows you to experience the essence of the Baronnies Provençales Regional Nature Park. This little-visited valley alternates between fields of lavender and rocky slopes, Scots pine forests and stunning beech woods, pastoral paths and ridges offering exceptional panoramic views.

Throughout the day, there are fantastic views over the Ouvèze valley, the Provençal peaks such as Lure and Ventoux, and then the Southern Alps. The route is particularly wild, far from everything, ending in the equally wild micro-village of Izon-la-Bruisse.

This itinerary between the valleys of the Méouge and Ouvèze allows you to take the pulse of the Parc Naturel Régional des Baronnies Provençales. Little travelled and regularly on balconies and ridges, the route alternates between lavender fields and rocky slopes, Scots pine forests and sublime beech woods, pastoral paths and ridges with exceptional panoramic views. In addition to its particularly wild character, the few small villages it passes through are particularly picturesque, and the route allows you to explore the sublime Montagne de Chamouse from every angle.

This circular route, starting from the charming medieval town of Serres, accessible by train, gives pride of place to the ridges and peaks of the massif. Between the Hautes-Alpes and Drôme, each day offers spectacular views and aerial trails, without any major technical difficulties. Small Provençal villages, perfectly integrated into the landscape, punctuate this particularly wild and uncrowded route. Between lively and diverse forests, golden pastures, lavender fields and prominent limestone rocks, this part of the Baronnies, with its strong rural and mountainous character, offers exceptional panoramic views of the Southern Alps and the nearby Provençal peaks every day.
