Description of the route

Park in the Ménil campsite car park (Rue du Port).

(S/E) Take the Mayenne towpath northwards, with the ferry on your right. Stay along the Mayenne to reach a viaduct spanning the river.

(1) Pass under the viaduct, then turn left onto the tarmac road. In the right-hand bend, turn left to join the footpath/cycle path along the edge of the road (N162). Turn right and continue straight ahead (old railway line/greenway) until you reach the crossroads after the bridge (D288), at a place called La Coquinière.

(2) At the junction with the D288, cross and continue straight ahead on the greenway to reach the edge of the Valles forest, still going straight ahead

(3) Turn left onto the path that runs alongside the forest. The path joins a slightly wider rural track. Turn right to reach a junction with a small tarmac road.

(4) Keep right and continue along this road until you reach a junction with another tarmac road.

(5) At this junction, go straight ahead and keep going until you reach a junction with a small tarmac road (opposite on the left, wooden hiking signs).

(6) Turn left and continue along this road. You will come to another junction with a road.

(7) Cross and continue straight ahead towards La Beunairie. Where the road curves to the right, take a rural path that goes straight ahead. Continue straight ahead until you reach a junction between two paths, shortly after passing under some power lines.

(8) Turn left to reach the Petit Coudray farm.

(9) From the path, you will come to a small tarmac road that leads to the farm on the left. Turn right and continue straight ahead until you reach a junction with another small tarmac road. Turn right and continue to the junction with the N162.

(10) Cross (caution: busy road!). Take the tree-lined path opposite and you will come to a junction between two paths.

(11) Go down to the left, then continue along this path until you reach a small road at a place called La Maison Neuve.

(12) Walk a few metres along the road, then take the tree-lined path opposite and continue along it until you reach a small gravel road. Continue straight ahead to the junction with the D267 (Route de la Jaille Yvon).

(13) Take the road on the right, then the first left, along the cemetery, onto Chemin de la Verrerie. This road leads to the water treatment plant, where a small path branches off and joins the Mayenne towpath.

(14) Take this path on the left to return to the Ménil campsite (S/E).
