Route of beautiful views in Dampierre-lès-Conflans

Built on a hillside, Dampierre-lès-Conflans, a former enclave of the Duchy of Bar, is the starting point for this lovely walk through meadows and forests of hundred-year-old oak trees. It will guide you to the village of Jasney with its remarkable historical and architectural heritage and end with a magnificent panorama of the foothills and the Vosges mountains. At the end of the route, you can extend the itinerary to reach the superb Fontaine du Bois fountain.

Marked route (yellow line on white background).

(S/E) From the church in Dampierre-lès-Conflans, take the path that descends to the right and runs alongside the cemetery. At the bottom of the descent, at the three-way junction, turn right and follow the pasture to reach the D145.

(2) Turn right to join the departmental road, which you take on your left. At the entrance to the village, continue straight ahead (on the left is the old Moulin Cachot mill). After the village hall, go up to the left and head towards the centre of the village, then turn left to pass in front of the "lower" castle , built in 1760, which now houses the town hall.

(3) At the crossroads, turn left towards the Pré Giley wash house. Visit the wash house and continue along the road. At the three-way junction, continue straight ahead until you reach the entrance to the forest. At the three-way junction, go straight ahead until you reach the next crossroads.

(4) Turn left, cross a stream and continue along the path that climbs opposite.

(5) At the forest road, turn left to climb towards Dampierre and enjoy a magnificent panorama.

(6) When you reach the village, at the first crossroads, you can extend the route (+ 2 km) by turning right and following the red signs that will take you to the magnificent Fontaine du Bois fountain and back through the village centre. To stay on the main route, turn left to return to your starting point and take advantage of the water fountain on the wall opposite the church to refresh yourself (S/E).

A lovely walk, two charming villages – Jasney in particular – where you can visit the church.
I recommend it; I’ll be going back at the end of the summer.

Thank you to the Mayor of Dampierre les Colombes for mapping out the walking route, for helping us discover his village, and for the beautiful wash houses along the way. A wonderful discovery and very well signposted.
