Chenereilles – Les Sucs: alternative route

Car park on the left, along the D109, towards Saint-Bonnet-le-Château.

(S/E) Head towards the church, passing it on the right (towards Saint-Marcelin). Walk past the restaurant L’Heuphrasie, then, after 100 m, turn left onto the Chemin de la Croix de Bayle.

(1) At the junction, turn right onto the wide path known as the Chemin des Garettes, then continue straight on, crossing the Route du Bost.

(2) At the end of the wide path, take the path furthest to the right (Chemin de la Garrenne). Carry straight on at the junction to pass above the large farm.

(3) Turn right onto the path heading towards Apagneux, then, 50 m further on, turn left and pass close to an abandoned caravan in an enclosure. Carry on straight ahead at the crossroads and reach another junction marked with ADTHF signposts 3.1 and 6.1.

(4) Head down to the right, then, 50 m further on, leave the 6.1 signpost and turn right to reach La Perrière, thus avoiding the descent towards the Moulin de la Grave.

(5) Turn left onto the path leading back down to the D16;cross the road carefully and follow the path opposite until you reach a four-way junction.

(6) Turn right onto the wide path, pass the houses at White Cross and arrive at the D16, by the cross.

(7) Follow the road to the left for about 50 metres, then leave it and turn left onto the path leading to Brouilloux: be careful, there is a ‘steep’ climb for 100 metres before the hamlet.

(8) At the cross, leave the tarmac road and take the path opposite, signposted 6.1.

(9) Leave the 6.1 signpost and take the path opposite, which avoids a slightly ‘steep’ climb at the foot of Uliecq.
When you reach the Ruisseau de Laval, to cross it, walk 30 metres before taking the small path on the left to reach the footbridge. After the stream, take the path opposite.

(10) At the top of the short steep slope, turn right. When you reach the D109, cross carefully to take the small road opposite and head towards La Goutte.

(11) Once you’ve passed the beautifully restored houses, turn right. Cross the Ruisseau de Laval and head towards a three-way junction.

(12) Keep to the right and then carry on straight ahead to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
