Chemin de la Pierre aux Coqs from Bromeilles

The route starts at the church in Bromeilles, nicknamed the Mont Saint-Michel of the Gatinais as it is perched on a hilltop and its bell tower can be seen from a great distance. The route passes through fields and woods, offering a beautiful view of the village of Puiseaux from the Butte Jaune.

Description of the walk

Parking available in the square by the church and town hall.

(S/E) Opposite the town hall, turn left towards Rue Grande and head towards Gironville on the right via the D27.

(1) Before leaving the village, at the bottom of the descent, take the first straight path on the right. Walk for 700 metres, keeping the tarmac road on your right and passing two crossroads. At the end, continue to the left until you reach a junction.

(2) Turn right to reach the hamlet of Bainvilliers. Turn right onto Rue du Marronnier and head towards the square.

(3) Take Rue des Jonquilles on the left to head back into the countryside. Walk straight on for 1.3 km, following the edge of the woods.

(4) At a junction, turn right between two woods.

(5) After 200 metres, turn right onto the hairpin bend leading into the Bois de Bouchereau.

(6) At a junction, take the small path on the left. At the edge of the woods, turn right then left.

(7) At the D423 road, first turn right then left to join a grassy path. Pass a path on the left then one on the right and head up towards the small wood. Climb up to the right to the viewpoint.

(8) Enjoy the view to the left over the town of Puiseaux. Continue straight on towards Bromeilles.

(9) When you reach a small transformer station, head down towards the road on the right, then take the first path on the left between two houses.

(10) At the junction, turn left.

(11) When you reach the road leading to the hamlet of Bainvilliers, turn left and head back up towards the village. At the second junction, take the street on the right and then immediately left, up a small flight of steps, to reach the square in front of Bromeilles church, nicknamed the Mont Saint-Michel of the Gâtinais because, perched on a hilltop, its bell tower can be seen from a great distance ( S/E).
