Chanousse walks

Alternating between sections through woodland and along ridges, this route offers a chance to enjoy some cool shade and lovely views.

A walk through fields of lavender and marl, then largely through a beautiful pine forest, offering a bird’s-eye view of Villebois-Les-Pins, Étoile Saint-Cyrice, the Céans valley and the ridges of the Montagne de Chabre.

This beautiful hike offers lovely views of the Céans and Blaisance valleys and the legendary cliffs of Orpierre, which make this village an exceptional climbing site.

A short but very pretty stage, especially the second part. The exit from Orpierre, via the heights, is fantastic, thanks to the bird's eye view of the narrow village nestled in the cliffs. After Le Suillet, a beautiful ridge and a memorable passage through the black marl, the GR® passes by the Mont Garde lodge.

A beautiful, fairly shaded walk with plenty of lovely views. The 360° panorama at the summit is remarkable. Everything is very well marked and signposted. Some sections are very steep, especially on the descent.

A grand finale for this revisited Tour des Baronnies. Along the ridges of Aumage and Eyglière, the peaks of Dévoluy and Écrins have never seemed so close. The Buëch Valley stretches out below us, and the 360° views allow us to retrace the path we have travelled over the last seven days: Serre de la Bouisse, Chamouse, Chabre and other peaks emerge on the horizon, bringing back fond memories.

A lovely walk along this ridge separating the Céans valley to the north and the Méouge valley to the south.

This 6-kilometre walk from the village of Sainte-Colombe (with a single exposed climb of about 1.8 km) offers aerial views of Sainte-Colombe and the surrounding landscapes (Céans valley, Adrech rocks and Dévoluy) along the Chabre ridge via a flat, shaded hillside path. A variation halfway through is possible to reduce the route to around 4 kilometres.

From Vieux Serres under the Rocher de la Pignolette, via the Crêtes de Fontarache, the Rocher de Jardane and the Crêtes de la Bouisse: a beautiful hike through sharp limestone pavement and boxwood.

Set off in style on this revisited Tour des Baronnies. Throughout the morning, the narrow path winds along the ridges overlooking Serres, winding its way between beautiful rocks and twisted Scots pines. At Serre de la Bouisse, the view of the Baronnies and the Alpine peaks is breathtaking. Then, between the bucolic Col d'Arron and the finish, the path progresses delightfully, like a balcony, under the Montagne de l'Aup. Finally, the Praboyer lodge is located in the heart of nature.

This circular route, starting from the charming medieval town of Serres, accessible by train, gives pride of place to the ridges and peaks of the massif. Between the Hautes-Alpes and Drôme, each day offers spectacular views and aerial trails, without any major technical difficulties. Small Provençal villages, perfectly integrated into the landscape, punctuate this particularly wild and uncrowded route. Between lively and diverse forests, golden pastures, lavender fields and prominent limestone rocks, this part of the Baronnies, with its strong rural and mountainous character, offers exceptional panoramic views of the Southern Alps and the nearby Provençal peaks every day.

Discover the Serrois region and its varied landscapes. From the Serres ridges to the cliffs of Sigottier, from the forest to the black earth of La Montagne, and from the traditional villages to the mountain pastures, the trail will allow you to appreciate the diversity of the landscapes surrounding this pretty medieval village dotted with “soustets” (covered walkways).

The first section follows the roads through the village of Serres. The second section follows a narrow path through the forest. The slopes are quite steep and slippery due to the pine needles covering the ground. The third section follows a wide track forming the embankment alongside the Buëch. Point of interest: at the summit, a heritage information board detailing the historical site where the village of Serres was founded.

A pleasant walk with no real difficulty provided the ground is dry. The route offers plenty of variety, taking in the banks of the Céans, the forest and then cultivated fields, whilst offering beautiful scenery. What’s more, everything is very well signposted.

This is a lovely walk to discover the Montagne de Chabre, which offers beautiful scenery, especially along the ridge. You can see many hang-gliders heading towards Les Espranons.

A magnificent ridge walk between the Oule valley (on the Montmorin side) and the Blème valley (on the Ribeyret side).

This is a very beautiful, uncrowded walk offering remarkable landscapes for most of the route.

A very pleasant and wilder alternative, with superb views, is the classic circular route of the Gorges de la Méouge, which avoids the long return journey on roads.
