Description of the walk

(S) From the Rosellette Refuge, head west towards Lac de Roselette and, 100m further on, turn left, heading due south, onto the unmarked path that crosses the Buche Croisée chairlift. You will soon reach theGRP® variant of the TMB (Tour du Mont Blanc).

(1) Turn left, pass beneath the Aiguille de Roselette and, after a short climb, reach the Col de la Fenêtre.

(2) Begin the descent, passing a first path on the left which leads down to the Chalets des Prés, then a second on the right which leads to the Col de Cicle. Join theGRP® Tour du Beaufortain.

(3) Take it to the right and reach the junction with theGR®5, which is shared with theGR® Tour du Mont-Blanc.

(4) Stay on thisGR® trail, which leads to many destinations; ignore the first path on the left leading to the Lacs Jovet. Then begin a gentle climb to reach the Col du Bonhomme.

(5). Turn left. The slope levels out, and after a long, almost horizontal traverse, you reach the Col de la Croix de Bonhomme and its refuge, a stopover point (E).

I’m giving it a ‘average’ rating because it seems a bit too ‘artificial’ to me (for example, I didn’t find the route from Col du Bonhomme to Col de la Croix du Bonhomme to be virtually flat – there’s still a 150-metre climb, after all)

Very busy as it was the weekend of 15 August, with this year’s exceptional weather
