Description of the walk

Park in the hamlet of Prunet, where there are a few spaces available at the start of the walk.

(S/E) Start on the path heading south-west and climb gently up to a small pass. Ignore the turn-off to the right and continue on to reach a track junction at the edge of the woods.

(1) Leave this track on your right and continue through the forest to reach the hamlet of Cabrières.

(2) Head due south along a tarmac road to reach a crossroads with several directions.

(3) Enter the sheep pasture on the left. Make sure you close the gate behind you and carry on straight ahead until you reach thesecond three-way junction. Turn right and join theGRP® Tour du Causse Méjean trail.

(4) Take this path to the left and follow the red and yellow markings. A few hundred metres further on, you’ll reach a path junction.

(5) Leave theGRP® and turn left onto the access path to the Puech d’Alluech. Begin the ascent via a few hairpin bends and reach the antennae at the summit of the Puech d’Alluech.

(6) Walk past the antennas and head down, generally following the ridge, first due north then north-east. Be careful here: the path is poorly marked but leads to a road. Continue straight on for a few metres to rejoin the GRP®.

(7) Turn right onto theGRP® and you’ll soon reach the hamlet of Chamblon.

(8) Turn left and continue to follow theGRP®. First downhill, then up a gentle slope, followed by a short descent. You’ll reach a crossroads with several routes.

(9) Continue downhill, taking the path on the left. At the lowest point, you’ll reach a four-way junction

(10) Head straight ahead and begin a short climb, passing some beehives at a distance whilst skirting a fence, then rejoin the path on the other side of the fence.

(11) Turn left and follow this path back to the car park in the hamlet of Prunet (S/E).

Hello, unfortunately, 200 metres after point 3, we arrived at the pasture, which was securely closed with no way to open it except by cutting or climbing over and damaging the fence. We tried to go around but there was no way through, so we had to turn back.

A lovely walk, taking in a variety of landscapes including woodland, plateaus and mountain peaks, with a final section through more built-up areas. To get to Le Prunet, be sure to follow the tarmac road and not your sat-nav, which directs you along tracks that are not really suitable for vehicles.
