Description of the walk

Park in the Annexe car park.

(S/E) Leave the car park and turn left.

(1) Turn left and go straight on to cross the housing estate. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, veering slightly to the right. Walk alongside a field, then turn right to cross the Raillée. At the greenhouses, cut right to emerge onto Allée des Druides, opposite the Lycée Nature.

(2) Turn left and cross the bridge over the Riaillée.

(3) Immediately afterwards, turn right, cross the Riaillée again and continue to the end of the track at a place called Les Touches.

(4) Turn left onto the small road and stay on this road until you reach the Pommeraie junction.

(5) Turn right, go over the four-lane road and reach a junction.

(6) Keep left, cross the Riaillée once more and come out onto the D 80 at Château Fromage.

(7) Turn right, then left, onto Route des Tisserands. Continue to the pond.

(8) Take the path on the left and follow it, running alongside the railway line further on. Return to the D 80.

(9) Ignore the road and take the path on the right. Walk alongside the four-lane road, then cross the bridge above it, turning left. As you come off the bridge, first turn left then right to follow a path which soon reaches a junction.

(10) Keep to the left. Join the D 80 again at Malvoisine.

(11) Take the road on the right, go round the roundabout on the left, then take the first left further on. You’ll reach the Annex car park (S/E).

Hello, please note that this trail is not signposted; the map is the most useful resource, although the starting point is not marked very clearly. Otherwise, it’s a very interesting, varied, easy and well-maintained walk. Highly recommended.

An interesting route making use of a new cycle/pedestrian path, part of which is still under construction (a wooden footbridge is being built).
The paths are very clean, even in wet weather.

Hello,
I do agree with you about the proximity to the motorway – it’s not ideal for peace and quiet. But the aim is to offer a route on the outskirts of La Roche, and that becomes tricky if you’re looking for peace and quiet. But I understand where you’re coming from – I also prefer the tranquillity of nature when I’m out walking.

A well-signposted walking route, on paths that are clean even in wet weather, I think. The advantage of this route is that it’s close to the town of La Roche-sur-Yon, so you can get some exercise without having to travel far to get there. However, the route runs close to the motorway and a junction, then follows the expressway, so don’t expect it to be quiet!
