Park in front of the Montmaur multipurpose hall.
(S/E) Take Rue de la République opposite the town hall. Pass in front of Montmaur Castle, continue on to the Ramoncassé district and a Y-shaped crossroads marked by a cross.
(1) Turn left to reach the La Castagne housing estate. Continue straight ahead on the dirt track that follows the road. Cross a stream to reach a road in the hamlet of En Borrel. Then join the D1 and turn left. Cross the D1117 and then the Ruisseau du Marès stream. Continue on to reach the Pierre-Paul farm.
(2) Pass the farm and take the dirt track on the right. After two 90° bends, the first to the right and the second to the left, you will come to a new T-junction.
(3) Turn left onto the uphill road. Then enter a wood and, at the crossroads at the edge, turn right to reach the Lauraguel farm.
(4) Turn right onto the tarmac road and head for Château de Biès.
(5) Pass the château along the road for about 100 metres. You will come to a crossroads.
(6) Turn right onto this dirt track, descend into the woods to reach the hamlet of Les Rougés, then Ruisseau de Marès.
(7) Turn left and follow the stream to reach the water treatment plant. Turn left and then immediately right to enter the village of Les Cassés.
(8) Cross the village, passing in front of the town hall and then the church. Cross the D1117, continue along Chemin du Fort and you will reach the crossroads at the Cathar Memorial.
(9) Note: you can make a return trip to the monument by taking the dirt track opposite. Otherwise, turn right and you will soon rejoin the D113.
(10) Cross it and take the path opposite, ignoring the one on the right leading to the En Reynès farm and then the one to the hamlet of Les Malrieux, to reach a tarmac road at a field of solar panels.
(11) Cross the road again and take the path opposite to reach the Bouscarres farm.
(12) Leave the road opposite and turn left onto the path. You will arrive at a crossroads with a track at a place called La Bartelle.
(13) Turn left and continue to the next intersection with a dirt track near the Caussinière farm.
(14) Turn right, then left, and continue along the ridge to reach a wider track near the Pézégade farm.
(15) Turn left onto this track, pass the farm and then the old Fondrech spring, and you will come to a crossroads with a road near an old mill.
(16) Continue straight ahead, crossing the road, until you reach the hamlet of La Drystone Shelter, then turn right into the street running alongside the Aubit housing estate. You will then come to Rue de la République and the car park of the Montmaur community centre (S/E).
