To get to Sainte-Colome, the easiest way is to take the D232 from Sévignacq-Meyracq at the traffic lights at the top of the hill towards Sainte-Colome and park in the small car park at Saint-Sylvestre church.
(S/E) Walk past the church and head east up the main street, following the yellow PR® markings.
(1) At the crossroads before the school, turn right onto Chemin d'Arruets, then turn left off the square onto Chemin de Terranère. Follow this road, which turns into a footpath. Please note that the descent can be slippery on slate slabs in wet weather.
At the bottom of the path, turn left, go through a barrier (chicane) and walk up the meadow along the woods on your left until you reach a second barrier (chicane), which is clearly visible from the first.
At the second barrier, descend to the right for 250 metres along the stone path until you reach a three-way junction.
(2) Turn right onto the Lasbordes path. After a few bends, it turns into a beautiful trail through boxwood and oak trees, leading to a clearing (semi-barrier).
Cross the clearing (be careful, there may be horses in the meadow), first descending slightly towards the east, then descending towards the south-west. The path makes a kind of hairpin bend.
(3) Below, pass another barrier (chicane), which is not easily visible from the path. If you reach a round drinking trough near a beautiful dead tree, you have taken the wrong path. Turn around to see the barrier below. Just after the barrier, the route joins mountain bike circular no. 5, which you should follow to Borde de Lasserre. Continue for 600 m until you reach the farm known as La Borde d'Estarrés.
(5) Shortly after Borde de Lasserre, the stony path climbs and heads north-east for about 700 m. This is the return to Sainte-Colome. There is a beautiful view of the Rey mountain, due south (summit at 1,349 m, the Soum de Las Picarats). At this crossroads, leave the MTB circular no. 5 and go up the gravel path on the right until you reach the D232.
(6) Cross the road and continue along the gravel path opposite. This is part of the GR®78, the Piedmont route to Santiago de Compostela, which you follow to Sainte-Colome. The route winds through the Peyraous plain across fields lined with trees, some of which are centuries old, and then climbs back up towards the south.
Follow a valley to reach the Sainte-Colome/Lys road (marked Chemin d'Ossau), at a drinking trough.
Turn left towards the village, which is clearly visible, then take the first street on the right (Chemin de l'Especieu) in the village. The alleyway leads to the beautiful Saint-Sylvestre Church (S/E).
Thank you for your comment. You must have enjoyed the beautiful autumn colours.
