Rots circular loop

Park in one of the two car parks at the top of Rue Haute Bonny, opposite the École Élémentaire des Roseaux primary school, between the activity centre and the town hall.

(S/E) With your back to the activity centre, walk up towards the calvary and the crossroads, take the pedestrian crossing opposite the school entrance and cross Rue Haute Bonny. Turn left towards the crossroads and the town hall, take the stairs then the Esplanade de la Mairie on the right and go around the town hall. Continue right onto Chemin des Écoles and follow it up to the crossroads.

(1) Turn left onto Chemin de Colombelles, follow it for about 600 metres, ignoring the side paths, and reach Rue de la Grange aux Dîmes. Turn left towards the church, walk about a hundred metres, and note the Grange aux Dîmes on the right. Continue left for a round trip to Place des Libérateurs and the church and admire its architecture.
Turn around, leave Chemin de Colombelles on your right and walk up Rue de la Grange aux Dîmes to the next intersection.

(2) Turn left onto Chemin de Gruchy, go around the farm building and, at the fork, continue left (no entry) ignoring Chemin des Poiriers on the right. At the end of the road, cross using the pedestrian crossing, turn right and follow Rue de l'Église Saint-Ouen (D170) on the left-hand pavement. Walk up this street for about 600 metres until you reach a path on the left.

(3) Turn left onto Chemin du Ricaras, towards the Vauculay farm. After 200 metres, turn left again towards the farm and continue to the edge of the farm. About 50 metres from the buildings, at the overhead power line, turn left at the edge of the woods onto the path specially laid out to go around the Vauculay farm. At the end, use the footbridge to reach a crossroads.

(4) Turn left onto the grassy path bordered by an embankment on the left and running alongside a large field on the right. Follow it for about 400 metres, then go around the building on the left. Immediately afterwards, make a return trip to the chapel on the left. On your return, continue along Chemin de la Chapelle for about 500 metres until you reach Chemin de la Cavée. Turn right and, after about 20 metres, turn left onto Sente du Manoir and follow the path up to numbers 4 and 7 on the street.

(5) At the corner of No. 7, turn left onto Sente du Pont Havez, go down the path to La Mue and cross the stone bridge. Go back up Sente du Pont Havez. Note the municipal Disc Golf course on the left. At the top, turn right onto Sentier du Vivier. Follow this path, ignoring the side paths (Chemin du Bois Pinet on the right and Chemin Heloin on the left), cross La Mue at the wash house, then climb up, ignoring Montée du Nicollet and following the left-hand bend.

(6) At the intersection, continue left on Haute Rue and follow it for about 300 metres. At the top, turn left onto Chemin des Marettes, ignore Chemin du Mont de Rots on the right leading to the water tower and descend towards the castle along the stone wall. Pass its two entrances (about 150 m apart) and continue on Chemin des Marettes until you reach Route de Bayeux (D613).

(7) Cross the D613 with extreme caution and turn left towards the town centre. Walk down Route de Bayeux for about 400 m and, at number 16 (on the other side of the road), turn right onto Chemin de la Ruette. Follow this road, negotiate the left-hand bend and continue along the expressway until you reach the road. Turn left, go up Route de Saint-Manvieu (D170) to the bus stop and, taking great care, cross Route de Saint-Manvieu at the pedestrian crossing.

(8) Turn right, then left to follow Chemin de Villeneuve (opposite Chemin de la Ruette) for about 500 metres on the left-hand side until you reach Route de Caen, ignoring Impasse de Balleroy at the bend. Use the pedestrian crossings to cross the path and Route de Caen (D613) very carefully, then turn right towards Caen and immediately left onto Chemin de Franqueville, towards the municipal workshops. Turn left after the last house and follow the path until you reach a crossroad.

(9) Cross the road, Sentier des Fontaines, turn left towards the roundabout, then turn right. Cross Rue Guillaume de Ros, turn right and walk up the street on the left-hand pavement until you reach the top. At the intersection, cross the road, turn left and follow Chemin des Écoles until you reach Chemin de Colombelles and the route you have already taken.

(1) Leave Chemin de Colombelles on your right, continue straight ahead to the town hall and turn left. Walk along the town hall via Esplanade de la Mairie, go down the steps and turn left onto Rue Haute Bonny. Follow the street to the school entrance, then take the protected crossing on the right to cross Rue Haute Bonny. Then turn left towards the car parks and the entertainment centre to reach the car park (S/E).
