Description of the walk

(S/E) From the village visitor car park, go down the tarmac access road to the car park on the right, pass in front of the Penta Di Casinca town hall and continue for 30 m.
Follow the signs (green arrows).

(1) Go down to the right along the path that winds for 500 m to join the stony U Majo path. Follow this to the Majo road (D206) and take the path to a track.

(2) Take it to the right and, at the fork, turn right onto the Palustrico path. Cross the hamlet of Fogata further on and continue to Palustrico.

(3) Take the path straight downhill to the dry La Foata stream. Cross it and turn right. Climb the very steep path (with caution), veer slightly to the right and after 200 m, turn right to reach the summit of Mount Piubiche.

(4) Descend the path on the left, ignoring the paths on the right and left, and continue straight ahead to reach the summit of Monte Castello. Continue straight ahead and veer left to reach U Tribbiu and the Majo D206 road.

(5) Walk along the tarmac road and take the steps 20 m to the left (the path on the left before the road is blocked).
Climb the stony path and continue straight ahead on Route San Michele. Pass a cemetery on either side of the road to reach an old aqueduct.

(6) Turn right onto the road and, when you reach the entrance to the village, climb the steps on the right to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

Beautiful hike, partly shaded, but with some good climbs at the end. Normal, given the long descent at the beginning

The hike starts opposite the town hall, with easy-to-follow green markings. The start of the hike is surprising because it descends quite a lot, but the view from the top of Mount Piubiche is very nice. A visit to the village of Penta di Casinca and St Michel's Church are a must when you arrive.

We are a retired couple. The elevation and heat did cause us some slight difficulties. But the route is more than acceptable. You absolutely must visit the village of Penta di Casinca at the end of the hike.

A very beautiful, moderately difficult hike starting from Penta di Casinca with a fairly steep descent at the beginning, so you'll have to climb back up again. It's not very technical but rather physical, so take your time. The 180° view of the mountains is incredible, and you'll end up crossing the cemetery before returning to the starting point. A beautiful hike through the woods.

An amazing hike. Mostly shaded, with lots of old terraced fields. Cork oaks and olive groves. Abandoned houses... Magnificent view at the cross. Knee-busting descent, breath-taking climb. Be careful when crossing the cemetery: large nest of very aggressive wasps. It's best not to go in and to go around it on the right. And then the village of Penta Di Casinca is very beautiful! Glad I did it!

A lovely little hike, starting with a descent and then, halfway through, an ascent with fairly steep slopes. At the end, there is a beautiful view of the Castello. At the finish, you will find the aqueduct that brought water to the village until 1937 (it dates back to the first half of the 19th century, according to the Ministry of Culture's open heritage platform). The markers are sometimes difficult to see, but the trail markings, a circular loop, are helpful if you are unsure.

Very nice route. The short circular loop of the trail starts with a long, shaded descent. The return is more challenging, especially at the beginning with some fairly steep slopes. The highlight before the finish is the walk around the cross, which offers a superb 180° panorama.
Great hike.🤪👏
