Car park at Col du Wettstein on the road leading to the Linge Memorial
(S/E) From the Orbey/Col de la Schlucht/Mémorial du Linge crossroads, follow the road towards Orbey with caution until you reach the Wettstein cemetery. Pass in front of the necropolis and, at the corner, turn right onto a wide forest path marked with a yellow ring signposted Basses Huttes (Centre de Vacances Le Vallon sign). Walk along the side of the cemetery, passing the stone cross. At the first intersection, ignore the path coming from the left and continue straight ahead. Pass the Source de la Madelon. Continue for about 100 m until you reach a fork.
(1) Ignore the sign for Laurence/Centre de Vacances on the left and turn right, following the yellow ring towards Catherine/Blanche/Amélie/Basses Huttes. Cross a logging track and continue along the wide path slightly downhill to cross a clearing (panoramic view). Ignore the secondary paths, first on the right and then downhill on the left. Stay on the wide Yellow Ring path which, at the end of a left-hand bend, meets a path marked with a yellow and white rectangle leading off to the right.
(2) Leave this path on the right towards Cimetière de Baerenstalll/Glasborn/Linge and continue downhill following the Yellow Ring. After about a hundred metres, leave a wide path on the left. Pass by the Basses Huttes drinking water reservoir near the Catherine spring, shortly after reaching a four-way intersection.
(3) Leave the two paths on the right uphill and continue downhill towards Basses Huttes. Leave the forest at a house. Continue overlooking Basses Huttes. At a second house, turn right and climb slightly towards Blandine/Amélie/Basses Huttes, ignoring the path leading downhill opposite. Continue to the intersection with the blue and white rectangle marked trail.
(4) Cross this trail, which leads to the Col de la Housserousse on the right and Basses Huttes on the left. Continue straight ahead on the wide, slightly uphill path, which heads northeast. About 100 metres after a small shelter, you will come to another intersection with the blue and white marked trail.
(5) Leave the steeply descending path on your left and the path on your right towards Pierre Tremblante. Continue on the path marked with a yellow ring, ignoring a path on your left towards Blandine and, just before you leave the forest, a path coming from the right towards Pierre Tremblante. A few dozen metres after this last intersection, at a high-voltage power line, the wide path joins a small path marked with a blue rectangle, which is theGR®531.
(6) Leave the main path and take the small path on the left (towards Grande Vallée/Orbey). A few dozen metres further down, you will come to a wide path on the left. Leave theGR®531and pass under the high-voltage power line. Continue along the Anneau Jaune marked path. Stay on the wide path, ignoring the two paths on the right towards Source Amélie. At a slight incline, leave a path coming from the right. Shortly afterwards, just before the forest exit, the wide Yellow Ring path joins the Blue and White Rectangle marked path.
(7) Continue straight ahead, ignoring a path to Orbey on the right and the uphill path on the left. You will come to an asphalt road. Continue downhill (Anneau Jaune) to the church.
(8) Keep right and descend the D48 (Blue Cross markings). Be careful. At the village exit sign, turn left onto a Blue Cross marked trail. Climb steeply towards Le Coin/Col du Wettstein. Pass through two gates in the pasture and, just before a house, turn left uphill onto a paved road (Blue Cross). Cross a path coming from the right (red disc) towards Noirmont and turn left uphill towards Sombrevoir/Hautes Huttes (red disc). Join the Route du Coin towards Basses Huttes. Take it on the right uphill for about 200 m with caution, then pass in front of the Ferme-Auberge du Rain des Chênes.
(9) Just after the farmhouse inn, opposite the Chaize farm, turn left onto the stony path marked with a red disc towards Sombrevoir/Lomberg/Wettstein. At the end of a short climb, cross the asphalt road twice and turn left, following the red disc towards Lomberg/Wettstein. On a downhill section of the road, ignore an uphill path on your right and, a few metres further on, ignore the sign for Lodge de Sombrevoir and take a path on your left. Further on, ignore a road on your left and arrive at a farm, where the road bends to the left.
(10) Leave the asphalt road and take the path marked with a red disc that branches off to the right into the forest. In a wide left-hand bend, ignore a path branching off to the right uphill towards Hautes Huttes. Continue towards Wettstein, following the red disc. Cross an asphalt road and continue on the forest path opposite (Red Disc). Do not miss the next intersection about 400 m further on.
(11) Leave the path on the left (mountain bike trail) and take the path on the right marked with a red disc to reach the road leading to Orbey. Take this road on the left and after about 100 metres you will reach the Wettstein cemetery. Return to the path you started on and pass in front of the cemetery to reach the Col du Wettstein car park (S/E).
