Park in the car park at the cemetery in Brison les Oliviers; approximate GPS coordinates 31T 0724000 5071000.
(S) From the car park, take the road uphill, then leave it at the first hairpin bend.
(1) Take a path not marked on IGN, marked in red, which climbs steeply in a series of hairpin bends to rejoin the Route des Granges.
(2) Follow the road uphill for a short while until you find a path on the left, which will eventually lead to the Route des Granges. Go up this road and, less than 100 metres after, you will find a covered path near a house.
(3) Take this path on the right, which will quickly come out onto the road just before the village of Les Granges. Follow the road for a few bends, crossing the hamlet and arriving at a sign: Granges de Brison Altitude 521.
(4) Head towards Croix de Meyrieu, which is signposted 50 minutes away. Further on, you will see the sign for Bois de Ragère altitude 671. The cross is only 25 minutes away. Continue along the wide path, which you will soon leave for a narrower path.
(5) Follow this narrow path, which climbs steeply through a meadow and then into the woods, coming out under the sign for the old Croix de Meyrieu at 810m. The old wooden cross, although shortened, is still in place. The new cross is not far away, just a little higher up at 838m in the direction of La Chambotte.
(6) Next, follow the long ridge trail northeast towards La Chambotte. It is marked with the usual yellow line, sometimes punctuated with fluorescent yellow markings. From time to time, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Bourget. Along the way, ignore the path that leads to Les Granges. The ridge path is a series of small descents and ascents, then finally crosses meadows and ends up on the road that leads to the bar-restaurant and viewpoint at La Chambotte, where you can stop for a break.
(7) Take the road that winds down to the village of La Chambotte.
(8) Continue west (left) along the road towards the lake, passing through a small tunnel and then a hairpin bend 200 metres further on.
(9) Turn left onto a road heading south. It descends diagonally and passes through vineyards, some of which appear abandoned, with a few small buildings, some renovated, dotted along the way. Shortly before reaching the road that runs alongside the lake, and to avoid having to take it, look for a small, barely visible path on the left before the last hairpin bends.
(10) Take this path, which crosses scree slopes. Nets stretched by cables protect the road and railway line below. This will take you to the top of the village of Brison and eventually to a road near a large rest establishment. Follow the road and shortly afterwards you will return to the car park (E).
