Park in the car park below the church in Montrevel. The car park is located on Montée de l'Église.
(S/E) Leave the car park and walk to the church. The trail is to the right of the church. Start slowly as the circuit begins with a stony slope. At the first fork, continue to the right, climbing uphill. Keep right at the next intersection to take the trail at the edge of the forest along a fence. On a small plateau, you will see the tomb monument on your left.
(1) At the edge of the path, you will find the remains of the cross. Continue along the path, which climbs gradually up the hillside to the junction with the path coming from the hamlet of Triève.
Take the stony path climbing up to the left and continue to the next intersection.
(2) Take the path completely on the right. It feels like you are retracing your steps, but the walk continues through the undergrowth.
At the next intersection, a crossroads of four paths, continue slightly to your right on a slight incline "towards Vaux", leaving the path that descends to the right.
The path gradually emerges from the forest before reaching the first houses of the village of Vaux. On your left, you will pass a path that leads to the orientation table, which you will see later. Enter the village and continue to the next intersection of tarmac roads.
(3) At the intersection, you will see a wooden cross decorated with unusual objects.
Continue along the road to the left. Take care as it is narrow and there is traffic. Stay on this road, keeping to the left at the next junction. Continue along this road, passing the path to Combe Lambert on your left.
About thirty metres further on, take the tarmac road on your left called "Chemin de Haut de Vaux". Be careful, it's uphill.
(4) At the next intersection, continue left along the steep road and then follow the path on the left that climbs up the edge of the meadow. You will be greeted by an owl, the symbol of the trail markers created by the Chabon hikers. Continue your climb up the meadow and enter the woods, staying on the edge.
Take the time on this section to admire the landscape, as there are some beautiful panoramic views to be had.
The path continues along the edge of the woods and along the ridge until you reach a crossroads.
(5) Leave the path leading to Combe Lambert on your left and the path leading to Haut de Vaux on your right. Stay on your path after crossing the crossroads. When you reach the top, continue along the same path which runs alongside a meadow and enters the forest for a few hundred metres before reaching a new, very open intersection at Bois du Seigneur overlooking the Panissage and Blandin valleys.
(6) Take the path on the left that leads to Combe Lambert through Taillis de la Dame.
(7) Take the path on the right at the bottom of the valley. Exit the woods and you will see a small pond on your right. Continue to the tarmac road.
(8) At the first crossroads, the first house in Les Bruyères, continue on your left and take the path that branches off to the left a few dozen metres further on, towards the orientation table. Follow the path uphill to a crossroads by a large tree. Take the wide path on the right that climbs towards the forest in the distance. The orientation table is hidden by the mound on your right. Once you reach the top of the first hill, near a large stake, a path branches off to your right at the edge of the plot. Be careful, it is very discreet. A few more metres and you will be on the plateau.
(9) Enjoy the view over the Hien and Bourbe valleys, with the Lyon valley and the foothills of the Ain in the distance. There is a grave at the edge of the path when you reach the plateau.
Retrace your steps and return to the hamlet of Les Bruyères. At the first houses, take the road on the left which will take you back to Montrevel. Stay on the road which winds between the houses. Continue straight ahead at the next crossroads. The road continues before turning into a dirt track. Pass by some water tanks before arriving at the hunting lodge. Descend to the next crossroads.
(10) At the school, take the road on the left with caution. Keep left at the next intersection and continue along this road, which will take you back to the church and the car park (S/E).
