The start is at the foot of Château Saint-Hugues.
(S/E) Take Rue du Chemin Neuf opposite the château and at the corner of the restaurant. At the next junction with Rue de la Basse Ville, continue straight on until you reach Ruelle du Puits Girardin. Turn right towards Place du Docteur Fricaud. Cross Grand'Rue and walk down a few dozen metres before turning right onto Chemin des Pierres. Cross Grand'Rue again and continue straight on along Rue de la Chapelle.
(1) At the small chapel, go down to the left along Rue de la Perrière for about a hundred metres and turn right onto Chemin de la Pierre Blanche. Continue straight ahead until you reach the pond and an old mill.
(2) Pass the mill and turn right to walk along the pond and up a steep path with water running down its edge. At the road, go up to the right and pass the place called La Fredelière. Ignore the two paths on the right.
(3) Take the third path on the right, which runs alongside an old wash house. Descend past the pond. At the bottom, take the hairpin bend to the left.
(4) At the Pré de la Ménagerie crossroads, go up to the left towards "La Grand Raie" (route M3). After 100m, take the path on the right, which is sometimes closed by a barrier (can be opened). You will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the hilltop village and the castle in the valley.
(5) Pass the farm, then join the departmental road (alternative route below). Turn right and follow the road to Croix au Bœuf. After passing the beautifully restored farm, descend to the right towards the Saint-Martin Chapel.
(6) Stop at the chapel, which is open to visitors during the tourist season. Turn right and continue to the crossroads. Continue straight ahead towards Semur.
(7) At the entrance to the village, after the wash house, turn right and go up Rue de la Porte au Vau. At the top of the street, turn right onto Chemin des Prés Coyer and walk along the convent wall, making a circular turn to the left. You will come to a narrow passage between two walls. Continue along this passage.
At the end of the passage, turn left to pass under the Poterne and arrive at Place de l'Église. Admire the beautiful Romanesque church (historic monument), the Town Hall, the convent and the Château Saint-Hugues (historic monument), which is open to visitors from March to October. Allow yourself some time to enjoy the riches of the village (S/E).
