Description of the walk

Park in the car park.

(S/E) Leave the car park and head towards the bridge crossing the Meuse. Cross the bridge.

(1) Once on the other side, continue for 100 metres, then turn left and cross at the pedestrian crossing. Continue for 20 metres to the right and join Rue de la Meuse to reach the banks of the Meuse.

(2) Turn right and follow the Meuse riverbank along the towpath for about 2.5 km.

(3) Before reaching the bridge, take a small dirt track on your right that starts in the woodland: marked with yellow and red signs for the GRP® 125. Turn left at the junction, cross the Ruisseau de Bonsoy, then turn right to walk alongside it and head up to the water reservoir.

(4) Walk alongside the reservoir and continue to follow the GRP® 125 through the woodland. As you approach Blaimont, turn right at a 90° angle with the path and gradually emerge from the woods as you climb. You’ll come out onto a tarmac road that passes through a farm and joins the Grand Route (N915).

(5) Cross this road carefully towards the path opposite (still on the GRP® 125).

(6) Turn left to walk in a circular route around the church at Blaimont. Then continue straight on along Rue des Écoles.

(7) Turn right at the Y-junction to head back towards the Grand Route.

(8) Cross the road again carefully to reach the path opposite, slightly to the left, whilst staying on the GRP® 125.

(9) Cross the Grand Route once more towards Les Spineuses and continue to follow the yellow and red markings until you reach a small tarmac road.

(10) Carry on straight ahead to the village of Hastière-par-delà.

(11) Turn right onto Rue Moussia and rejoin the D915, which is now called Route de Blaimont.

(12) Turn left onto the bridge crossing the Meuse and return to the car park where you started (S/E).

Worth a visit

For geocaching enthusiasts:
- 1 geocache near the checkpoint (3)
- 1 multi-cache near the waypoint (9) but be warned, this may extend the walk by around 3 km
- 1 near the point (2)
- 2 near the location (2), including a multi-cache.

(6) Blaimont Church. A single-nave church built of cut stone and slate, constructed in 1859 and restored in 1932 by the architect Dony.

(8) If you’d like something to eat, you can either pop into the bakery for a sweet treat or head to the Val de Meuse, where you can have a drink or a bite to eat. Please note that the Val de Meuse does not allow dogs.

A lovely route with no major difficulties, though the descent towards the Meuse in freezing conditions on damp ground is a little treacherous in places.
Thank you for this new route
